Insufficient luteinising hormone?

What does this mean?

My GP said my day 21 tests came back ok and it looks like I'm ovulating but there was a possibility that I had insufficient LH to maintain a fertilised egg?

My fertility appointment isn't due for a couple ofmonths, can anyone shed any more light on this??

Is it the same as a short luteal phase?

Or did we do the test too late (it was day 25 as I have a 30-32 day cycle)?

Hi, I don't think that insufficient LH is the same as a short luteal phase.

Basically, the LH is the hormone (along with follicle stimulating hormone) that stimulates your ovary to release the egg during ovulation. Afte ovulation, LH is the stuff that makes the lining of your uterus receptive to implanting a fertilised egg.

I assume that this is why you're not getting pregnant: because the lining of your womb doesn't have enough LH to allow an egg to implant.

The good news is that you can be treated with hormones: Clomid (clomiphene citrate) or gondratophins (spelling?) that will increase the LH and so make your uterus a happier place for fertilised eggs to be :)

Ooh thank you, I wondered about Clomid. Not sure I can have it due to the endo but we'll see what the specialist says....eventually.

Does Clomid come under 'fertility treatment'? As I'm ineligible in my area. Hmm....
