Hi. This is also my first post after being s long time lurker! Me and my DH have been TTC over 2 years now and during this journey I was diagnosed with PCOS and type 2 diabetes (I'm in my late 20's). I take metformin and just finished round 2 of clomid. No sign of a bfp yet :(

I have both endometriosis and PCOS and in my case I ended up having laparoscopic ovarian diathermy surgery. The purpose of this was twofold; firstly to try and kickstart ovulation by puncturing the cystic follicles with the electrical needle and to laser out the endometriosis deposits (extensive throughout the uterine cavity).

BTW both PCOS and endo can and do recur post surgery and it does not always work. However, it is worth asking about.

The surgery was successful and I am a parent as a direct result of same. I would not have conceived otherwise. I would ask the gynae cons whether you would be considered a suitable candidate to have such surgery as endo is present as well.

It is vitally important that the three of you can work as a team and it is also important that your H is also tested in tandem with your own investigations.

How was endo diagnosed originally, through lap surgery?

Two websites that you may find helpful are as follows:-
//www.verity-pcos.org.uk
//www.endo.org.uk

The more you learn about PCOS and endo the better as knowledge after all is power!.

any other questions just ask.

That's fantastic thank you!! The hospital saw me and my husband and the doctor just came out and said "you have enlarged ovaries present with PCOS and endo" yet I don't understand how they have diagnosed me as I had a internal scan and a hsg dye injection.
I'm going back in march to hopefully start on clomid tablets but it does seem to me like they don't know their head from their elbow!! Think this is what's making it harder and more frustrating in conceiving. But thank you for your advice ill give the websites a whirl!! Smile

TBH if this hospital are like this now I would ask to be referred to another gynae unit. It is fair to say that some are far better than others.

Clomid is usually the first line of treatment given to PCOS patients BUT it is not suitable for all PCOSers to take. If this is prescribed you must be monitored whilst on it preferably with both blood tests and ultrasounds as it can affect hormone levels markedly (particularly LH). As many PCOSers have an excess of LH to start with, this drug treatment should be given with a degree of caution.

Also clomid is not going to address the underlying endometriosis at all

Hope you do find the websites helpful. The more knowledge you have of both endo and PCOS the better really.

Do keep us posted, any other questions just ask.

Good luck! I'm in the tww after my third round of clomid and being given the hcg trigger shot to ensure ovulation. Not feeling too positive but will have to wait and see. Hope you get your bfp soon Smile

Good morning all!! Smile Right I need some advice, myself and hubby had intercourse 3weeks ago (and since) when I should have effectively ovulated. Ok so I should now have started my periods today to be able to start the clomid tablets. Hope your following so far!! Grin So I haven't started periods but had a small (not quite) bleed about 2 weeks ago for 3 days could that have been implantation bleeding? Should I do a test tomorrow????? Little apprehensive as the PCOS has been making me feel a little down recently and don't want this to make it worse with a neg. Any ideas are very welcome! Smile

Hi, just read your message. Have you poas? From what I've heard it sounds like it could be implantation bleeding but I've no experience myself. I'm now in the tww after 4th cycle of clomid and having the hcg trigger shot, no whiff of a bfp for me yet Sad but trying to stay positive! Grin

Fingers crossed for you!

Well I did a test and it came back neg again so goin to wait til next month and hopefully start clomid then! Still not started periods but will wait. Fingers crossed for you too!! Is the shot worth doing at the same time? Don't really know much about it but had read on other forums that other people are taking it alongside the clomid.

So sorry to hear that cuddles. I've had the shot twice now when I had large enough follicles - I've been scanned regularly for the last few cycles (first cycle just day 21 bloods & second cycle nothing). I think it just ensures the follicles mature and actually release the egg.

Fingers crossed it works this time! The tww is getting harder each month Sad

Got to think positive, pcos is not going to beat us! Grin

Started the clomid all seems to be going ok now test came back at 57 on 21 day bloods. Going on metformin aswell to help but don't know anyone who's used both and had any joy. Worst thing is I've been sick over the last 4 days and its a 50/50 at the mo as there's a sickness bug at work so going crazy!!!!! Not sure what to do now as dont want to get my hopes up but don't know what the mixture of clomid and metformin will do aswell!! Aarrgghh!! Grin
