Would be grateful if people could share stories of success please x

Hi no personal experience, but worked for an Nct friend. Another had IUI which was successful 1st time.
Best of luck

Kellie91 · 26/09/2012 18:20

Hi thank you, my consultant has mentioned IUI but thought this was the best way to go

Hi Kellie, not a story of success as such but am currently on day 19 of my first cycle of clomid, going for bloods this Friday to see if I ovulated.
We've been ttc for a little over a year and I don't ovulate either; I was only on 50mg a day this cycle though (will go up to 100mg if 50 doesn't work for me).

Are you taking progesterone to bring on a bleed or do you have to wait for one to come naturally to get started?

Jaffacakeeater · 26/09/2012 21:01

Pregnant with twins after first cycle :)))
Good luck!

Nevercan · 26/09/2012 21:36

I got pregnant on my third cycle of clomid and then fell pregnant naturally with my second daughter Smile

RubyrooUK · 26/09/2012 21:49

Same story as nevercan. Pregnant on third round of Clomid (first time I ovulated in years) and am now pregnant naturally with DC2. Smile

Jaffacakeeater · 27/09/2012 06:26

Oh yes, forgot that bit. Got pregnant with beautiful B/G twins on then fell naturally just before their second birthday with gorgeous DS2.

Jaffacakeeater · 27/09/2012 06:27

Hi Kellie. Just wanted to say lots of luck with your treatment Smile I'm in a very similar position - haven't ovulated in ages and am starting 3rd cycle of clomid (150mg) on Monday with help from progesterone. These forums help no end and there seems to be lots of happy stories recently which really helps on low days Smile

Hii kellie91, my husband & I had unexplained infertility. My periods were irregular too. on second dose of clomid we got our BFP! our dd is now 10 months. we really thought we would be going down the I've route! as another poster said these forums really help!
oddly enough my periods are now really regular!
Hope you get your BFP really soon. X

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 13/10/2012 23:43

Good luck x

leon1234 · 14/10/2012 11:04

kellie91, I have been in ur shoes. I have used clomid . u can use for up to 6 months. in the mean time u can take zinc and
co enzyme which is needed for all enzyme activity. I did all of this . it worked for me. all the best.

BustyStClaire · 14/10/2012 11:07

Clomid worked for me first cycle, and was able to concieve third without it!

raspberrytipple · 14/10/2012 11:22

Hi, hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread but I have my next appointment on Tuesday and clomid or IVF are likely to be suggested. We have unexplained fertility. My periods are slightly irregular (between 29-35 days) but I do ovulate so I'm just wondering if its worth trying clomid or going straight to IVF? I really don't know which way to go. We have been trying just over three years

raspberrytipple ,remember one step at a time, clomid will be tried for 6 months before ivf

AttilaTheMeerkat · 14/10/2012 14:20

raspberry

If you have been ttc for three years without success it is possible that the fertility problem could equally lie with both of you.

Unexplained is actually no diagnosis at all; it means that they have basically failed to find out what is wrong. It is also sometimes given to couples when they have not been adequately investigated in terms of fertility investigations.

What tests have both of you have had done to date (some tests get missed off), any test result over 6 months old should be discounted.

I would ask them lots of questions, its a huge leap from clomid to IVF.

I would also consider seeking a second opinion, it is fair to say that some fertility units are far better than others.

Hi Attilla,

back story is that we came off pill in June 2009, paid no attention whatsoever really for the first year, I was just glad not to be on the pill! Then decided to make a much more concerted effort and that went on for 14 or so months I guess. We got married August 2011 and went straight to the drs after honeymoon in September. The GP first off sent DH for a semen analysis which came back ok. Then for me did an internal, some basic blood tests and STD tests. All that came back clear except a CA125 test which was raised so I had to wait 4 weeks for it to be repeated. All this took place between September to December and just before Christmas I was referred to a Gyne/fertility consultant. Had an appointment with him in February this year, had a dildo cam scan and he said everything looked ok but the raised CA125 thingy made him suspect Endo plus my slightly uneven AFs and lots of pain during AF also pointed the same way. I had another lot of tests with him, one included an ovulation test which showed that I ovulated that month (also he saw a nice big follicle on the scan and said everything was as he would expect mid cycle)

So, had a lap & dye in April, I had some endo removed, just small patches really but consultant said nothing too serious. One ovary was stuck to something so that was released. They flushed my tubes and they were both clear, DH had another semen test, that came back better than the original. Consultant came to see me after the op (when I was still woozy to be honest) and said that there were 'lots of positives i.e. he didn't find anything that wasn't fixable, I'm young and healthy etc etc) and to try naturally for 6 months. When I had my next appointment if nothing had happened he said he would likely recommend IVF and I was entitled to one free cycle on NHS although we could think also about clomid to increase ovulation but that ran a risk of multiple pregnancy.

I'm just worried that we will go on Tuesday, he will ask which we want and I will make the wrong decision? I don't know where we go from here and it's making me a bit stressy. IVF is a massive step and although we desperately want a baby, I'm not quite sure we are ready for that just yet? I really don't know.

What other tests do you think could be carried out?
