If it's a choice between Jack and Jill tumbling down a hill or dd watching death and violence and someone trying to kill their dad in a quarry, know which i'd choose

At least the had the grace to say "toungue in cheeck"!!!!

yep

"Goosey goosey gander regards closet catholics in the 16th century, hence 'left foot'. The upstairs and downstairs refers to the hunt for priest holes and priests (old man) and their refusal to conform to the new protestant or common prayer book (say his prayers). Once found they were arrested, (usually along with the family) and sentenced to death."

I've always wondered how political satire ends up as rhymes for kids ? most nursery rhymes seem to be, such as the Grand Old Duke of York, and others I'm too knackered to remember.
Will our kids end up re-enacting Rory Bremner sketches to their babies (heaven forbid)?

Thngs like this always make me laugh. I grew up with these nursery rhymes, and the old fashioned fairytales and I didnt grow up to be a violent psychopath!! Ever heard a murderer stand in court and say "The nursery Rhymes made me do it" lol

For a nursery rhyme/song with everything, how about "A frog he would a wooing go" - all the main characters meet with violent deaths!
