How amusing it is to hear BBC political presenters pondering the reasons for them not to have seen this coming. Just demonstrates how out of touch they are.

The 'experts' are always out of touch. Like when they didn't see the crash of 2007 coming Hmm

It is not the experts that are out of touch it is the American electorate that are. How they think trump is in it for the little man how disillusioned are they. Trump is a capitalist he has stepped on their heads to get to the top he is not about to start helping them now. Trump now has control of Congress, the senate and the supreme Court. This is extremely worrying for America and the rest of the world. I would hate to be Muslim, black, lgbt, a woman etc etc waking up in America this morning.

Trump is about to experience the biggest learning curve of his life in which he will be ate up and spat out by an establishment composed of career politicians who will be seeking re-election in a few years' time.

If Trump wants to serve more than one term, and/or secure a place in history where he is not universally derided and despised, he'll be ill-advised to rock their boat or his own.
