Or is this a late April fool? Australia issues a travel warning.

Do they know that Easter, along with the commemorations has already happened?

To be honest I didn't know until very recently that they hold the commerations at Easter whenever that happens to be rather than the actual anniversary. This is coming from somebody who is a historian with a specialty in Early Twentieth Century Social History and whose both parents are Irish blush

It's all been very jolly so far. I didn't go into town for any of it but quite a few of my friends took their DC in and said it was a great atmosphere.

Crime is up a bit, but not to a worrying level. There has been some gang related shootings, but not in an area where tourists are likely to be.

I think I heard today that there will be more ceremonies around 19-24th, the actual dates, but I have heard nothing about it. Dh is quite involved in military matters and has said nothing so I don't think it's going to be a big thing. Hard to know why the advisory has been issued.
