The white van has been transformed to a Harrods van and the England flag is now a Hammer and Sickle so Mrs Hyacinth Bouquet, Labour MP feels more at home

Grin

Here is what it is about

"Labour shadow minister accused of 'contempt for working classes' over white van tweet

Emily Thornberry was attacked after she tweeted a picture of a white van outside a house draped in the St George's Cross with the caption 'image from #Rochester' "

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/labour/11243726/Labour-shadow-minister-accused-of-contempt-for-working-classes-over-white-van-tweet.html

WetAugust · 20/11/2014 19:00

It's caused a real stir as she kept digging saying she'd never seen a house like that before.

Some of her own MPs have turned against her. They are determined to rip themselves apart.

The money is on the Loonies beating the Libs into 3rd place. Cleggy will be packing his suitcases ready for his post GE Brussels job.

OP posts:
claig · 20/11/2014 19:10

Let's hope so. The Loonies' policies certainly make more sense.

"With one tweet, Emily Thornberry has turned the fire on to Labour

The Rochester byelection should have been a contest between Ukip and the Tories. Now the MP has put the focus on Labour as the party of the metropolitan elite"

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/nov/20/tweet-emily-thornberry-labour-rochester-byelection-ukip-tories

There are 6 months to go before the election. Imagine the number of mistakes and gaffes that the Establishment parties are going to make during that time. UKIP gaffes don't count because UKIP voters don't care.

Behoove · 20/11/2014 19:24

Snobby woman obviously. Doing UKIP a favour.

claig · 20/11/2014 19:59

"Emily Thornberry is in danger of turning into Labour's very own Matthew Paris; both have utter contempt for for aspirational people who seek to earn their own living, pay their own bills, improve the circumstances of their families and are unashamedly patriotic."

www.ukip.org/labour_yet_again_demonising_any_expression_of_patriotism

Emily Thornberry and Matthew Parris - Luvvies United.

WetAugust · 20/11/2014 20:13

what attracts these types to Labour?

OP posts:
claig · 20/11/2014 20:19

Power probably. The metropolian elite are a liberal elite. Cameron, the moderniser, is hardly any different to the Labour luvvies. They are essentially all the same. That is why UKIP is such a breath of fresh air.

claig · 20/11/2014 20:21

Tony Blair was the original Moderniser and Cameron is his heir. Tony Blair is not real, old Labour. He isj ust another one of the metropolitan elite millionaire barrister class.

WetAugust · 20/11/2014 20:30

What nah absolute pseudo, trying to claim she had a council estate upbringing. Mummy was M ayor and Daddy went on to be an Assistant UN Secretary General!

Seriously deluded person.

OP posts:

But why did they hijack Labour instead of, say, kinda king the Libs, which was a party on the rise at the time? is it because they think they are superior educationally etc to the traditional Labour voter who would just be grateful to 'ave some posh folk join the party?

OP posts:
WetAugust · 20/11/2014 21:37

The Sun has found White Van Man. He said he hadn't voted and probably wouldn't bother Grin

OP posts:
claig · 20/11/2014 21:57

'But why did they hijack Labour instead of, say, kinda king the Libs, which was a party on the rise at the time?;

No. The Establishment is terrified of real Labour because Labour is the people. Therefore the Establishment puts its own people into Labour in order to control what Labour does and it helps them rise to the top. Labour has now changed beyond all recognition and is no longer a people's party that can represent any threat to the metropolitan elite. It is now full of millionaire barristers from Oxbridge who are are the metropolitan elite and who are miles away from ordinary people.

Also, the Establishment knows that the people are much more likely to vote Labour than LibDem and therefore Labour is much more important to be part of, if control and power is the objective.

Now there is a new peope's party - UKIP, and the establishment doesn't control it, although it will do its best to try. This new party challenges the metropolitan elite over every one of its sacred cows - the EU, global warming, immigration, political correctness etc. That is why there is panic in elite circles. All they can do is shout that UKIP are not politically correct, that they are racist etc and let their media try to trip up UKIP. But UKIP aren't politically correct, so the Establishment's best tactic can't work, and UKIP aren't racist so that doesn't work either because the public know the game and they are ignoring the metropolitan elite's desperate attempts to fool the people.

claig · 20/11/2014 22:09

Right now on Guido Fawkes's site at the top of the page it has

"The World Will End if You Vote UKIP

First it was value of your home that would plummet if you vote UKIP, and now it’s the markets that will crash should a small coastal town return the same MP the have had for the last four years:

“UKIP gains are changing the political landscape in Britain and these shifts have wider effects than shaking-up British politics; they are likely to spark short-term volatility in financial markets,” claims someone called Nigel Green, who claims to be the founder and chief executive of the deVere Group.

What a load of old bollocks."

order-order.com/2014/11/20/the-world-will-end-if-you-vote-ukip/

"The world will end if we don't cut carbon emissions"
What a load of old bollocks.

They don't know how to stop UKIP.

That is why you should not lose hope that we will leave Europe, because we will and it is because the people will listen to Farage instead of to the metropolitan elite because the people believe that he is on their side.

claig · 20/11/2014 22:13

Nick Robinson has just said on BBC News that the major parties must be wondering

"What on earth can we do about that man Nigel Farage?"

That shows how history can be changed by one perosn, that people really do count and can shake an entire establishment. If Carswell or Reckless ran UKIP, it would go nowhere. Farage is a genius without even trying because he is just real and the people recognise that and they trust him and not the Establishment, the PPEs, the Oxbridge gang or the metropolitan elite.

AuntieStella · 20/11/2014 22:19

Polls have closed

Exit polling suggests UKIP win (ie return of the MP they've had for the last 4 years), but I suppose the real question remaining is 'by how much'?

claig · 20/11/2014 22:23

'the real question remaining is 'by how much'?'

Yes, that will be important. Do we know the turnout? That will be important too.

claig · 20/11/2014 22:29

Breaking news.

Emily Thornberry, the Shadow Arrorney General, has just resigned from the Shadow Cabinet.

AuntieStella · 20/11/2014 22:30

I haven't seen anything on turn out yet, but BBC had this about share of the vote in 2010:

"Mr Reckless won the Kent seat for the Conservatives in 2010 with 49.2% of the vote. Labour came second with 28.5%, followed by the Lib Dems, the English Democrats and Green Party."

TywysogesGymraeg · 20/11/2014 22:30

She's just resigned!!

BakewellSlice · 20/11/2014 22:32

I have to say I heard Emily T on QT a while back and jumped to the conclusion she was a Tory due to a bit of stereotyping on my part.

She has been rather stupid for a clever person.

'Claig surely Nigel F is a well-off City gent?'

He is but that doesn't matter. You can still be anti-establishment if you are rich or if you went to Eton.

George Orwell went to Eton.

It's not about money, it's about mindset and if you stand with the people against the Establishment and all their spinners. It's about whether your heart is in the right place and rich people are part of "the people" too.

BakewellSlice · 20/11/2014 22:41

She really highlights Labour's problem.

Behoove · 20/11/2014 23:48

What a stupid end to (I'm sure) a hard won career

I actually feel sorry for her stupidity
