295 people if reports are correct. Devastating.

It's also on sky news, how awful. Another huge loss to so many families. And it appears it wasnt even an accident. RIP to the people who have lost their lives.

How awful.

Did Ukraine mistake it for a hostile aircraft or something?!?

Very sad. :(

Absolutely awful. Very close to Russian border. Reports saying no passengers survived

Sky news saying the plane was shot down, but we will have to wait for more details to get confirmation.
Poor poor victims and families.

I am just horrified.

I know a lot of Dutch people who travel a lot for work. Just stopping myself from calling them.

This is just awful. Those poor families.

And so scary. This is the stuff that starts full wars if it was truly shot down :(

This is terrifying.

Rest in peace to those lost, and I am so sorry to the families affected.

I'm guessing something like this could kickstart ww3?

Please lets not panic, this is serious but lets not scare ourselves silly.

I do feel quite scared :(

I used to fly this route 4 times a year. My family fly it. It's close to home.

I'm quite shocked actually that a commercial flight would be knowingly routed over an active conflict zone, particularly one where it is known that missiles have been used against other (non-commercial) planes recently.

I'm amazed that a plane at 33000ft can be brought down so easily by a surface-to-air missile....

CAA were considering not allowing commercial planes over that area recently - bit late now.
