I can't link to the Sky news interview with Nigel Farage but it was terrible

It was Kay Burley. About 3pm today. She made his case for him just now and I don't even think she meant it. In fact I think she's sure she made a good job of portraying him as a mad racist while talking to him about UKIP's poster suggesting migrant workers were stealing British jobs.

He seemed quite reasonable in the face of Burley. He didn't emerge as racist - protectionist at best - xenophobic at worst. He didn't even grab anyone round the throat or ask them if they'd have given it up a bit more their husband wouldn't have been tempted to murder prostitutes.

Then she went on about a pretty young woman they're featuring as a candidate who is from her appearance, clearly of Anglo-Asian background and demanding why UKIP didn't declare her background. Burley was the one who mentioned pretty. Not me or Farage.

Farage asked why they should and to be fair I had to agree. And also, she's a pretty woman who's used a flattering picture on her literature. Wouldn't you? If you want to know more about her views then read her literature and ask her questions, rather than the party.

Oh criminy. I had to admit that Nigel seemed reasonable. They're heading for a major result in the European elections. In my mad moments I toy with voting UKIP just because I've always lived in Tory constituencies and want to crush them now more than ever.

It could happen here. I won't do it, but the temptation is fucking strong.

I'd think it was a right-wing plot if I didn't know Burley of old and realise it was incompetence.

I know a well educated, apparently sane on the surface, Tory who is planning to vote fucking UKIP. I doubt she's alone.

It's scary how someone as daft as Farage is being taken seriously.

Nobody is more of an idiot than Kay Burley.

Thye are going to repeat it on Sky in the next few minutes - apparently it is "back by popular demand". I haven't seen it yet, but Farage took a bit of a hammering from Nick Robinson earlier today.

Farage is a twat no matter what he says.

Can we talk about Victoria Coren in stead? She is SMART! And lovely. *girl crush, obvs

The only person to TWICE win that poker thing. Good for her!

meglet I'm tempted to vote UKIP because I live in the London Westminster City Council Ward and I want to give the Conservatives a stuffing and for the first time in the history of living in rock solid Conservative constituencies I'm in with a good chance.

That wouldn't be right. But Oh Lord, it's fucking tempting...

If you want to give 'em a stuffing then vote commie or green or something ffs
Or stand in front of their offices with loads of balloons and flowers, do hippy dances and guerilla gardening.
Anything but give your vote to someone who is WORSE.

It is like aiming for pneumonia when you are suffering a cold.. crazy!

It's the European elections so it doesn't matter. Vote UKIP and cause an earthquake.

MadamBatShit This is my thread. So it's my rules Wink

You may rave about Victoria Coren only if you are prepared to explain exactly why poker is really hard. I think she's neither here nor there. And neither is her brother.

Poker a card game and if you know the rules and you're good at it...well that's it. There's no mystique. You're just good at counting and remembering or you're not. It's essentially no different to being being good at card games like Snap or Pairs or Patience.

And while you're at it can you explain the offside rule, which I understand, but Coren used to bang on about in a geezer-bird kind of way, which was frankly, a bit embarrassing?

So if you want to do a Vicky and Giles thread: clear off.

MadamBatShit, the commies and greens aren't going to win, but UKIP could topple them. They're having kittens.

Not your rules, I don't play [raspberry]

Report
MadamBatShit · 22/04/2014 17:16

True claig about the kittens. However. You do not want them in a position where they actually can influence some politics on a bigger than tiny scale though, right?
Topple I don't know... For Europe they might join the Flemish, Dutch and French right (despite his protestations and all.. when power lurks they will because they are too similar to refuse) which is a scary prospect.

claig · 22/04/2014 17:19

I want UKIP anyway to give us a semblance of democracy - they want PR voting and referendums. They are against the drive to war and bad relations with Russia. They were against the proposed attack on Syria. Foreign affairs are important because they will affect us all.

Report
mousmous · 22/04/2014 17:22

yep and what about the relations with the eu? it is important to think about that properly not with a clowns face.

Report
claig · 22/04/2014 17:25

The EU is a superstate and the bureaucrats are puppets. Look at what is happening with Russia. It is only UKIP, the French, Dutch and Flemish who are against it. Our politicians have little say in what the EU does or wants. We are part of this superstate and we are fast losing our independence and our democratic voice to oppose what the unaccountable, unelected, technocratic elite of bankers and moguls believe is in their interests rather than in the interests of the people.

Farage said "the EU has blood on its hands over Ukraine". The establishment elite were dismayed. They are all for the EU policy. Where will that policy lead us?

Report
Damnautocorrect · 22/04/2014 17:32

The problem is there's major decisions being pushed through e.g;
Nhs sale
Hs2
Eu
Even the Iraq war
Every party has pushed things through that the people haven't chosen, haven't voted for and on the whole are against. They've all betrayed us in one way or another, with expenses rows etc etc
Voters are dispondant and looking for an alternative, only feasible one currently UKIP.

I'm not a supporter, far from it but I can see why people are thinking about it

Report
limitedperiodonly · 22/04/2014 17:37

I will vote UKIP because it would be such a bloody nose for Cameron right in the heart of such a prestigious constituency.
