Thank you to the 13,388,497 people ? 22% of the population ? who have said they want to help others to live after their death by joining the NHS Organ Donor Register.

I heard today that a wonderful person I knew had a terrible accident yesterday and was declared brain dead in hospital. Due to the wisdom and openness before death of this amazing lady, and the incredible courage of her family, she was immediately assessed by the organ transplant team. I know they took her heart, not sure what else, but just that means that someone who might not otherwise have lived has had the chance to keep going. It's hard to think of any good things coming out of the tragically early death of a person, but this is certainly one. Sign up to the register now.

I agree Fio - it must be hugely difficult. I know I get very focussed on the subject from 'my side of the fence'. It's such a gift from a grieving family and must take massive courage.

I've read on Justines website that everything seems to have gone well and she is settled in ICU now.

Fantastic news! I just hope that Peter and Emily get the call - Emily will be on GMTV in the morning at about 7.40am. She is truly inspirational and desperately needs a double lung transplant. We met her yesterday at the Transplant Trek - 13 miles of hell, but it was worth it!

Praying hard for all of those who desperately need this gift of life.

xx

My children did the Transplant Trek on Saturday. Four youngest did the Mini Trek and our eldest who had a liver transplant 2 years ago did the 13 mile Pier to Pier Trek. It took her 5 hours but she did it! We were soooooo proud of all of them. We are also looking into organising a similar event in our part of the country for next year. If anyone is interested, the Transplant Games are being held in Bath in August. Any support would be much appreciated.

Good luck and best wishes to those of you with loved ones waiting for a donor x
