no joke.on saturday night we had the end of the criccieth festival celebrations.

the fireworks were let off early because of the rain.

anyway,at around midnight, all hell broke loose.there were around 300 people involved, around 35 police cars (despite no-one knowing where they got 35 police cars from!) and some police were injured.(i think some of the 'crowd' were injured aswell but not sure how many)

no-one here can believe it happened.its such a quiet place!

I couldn't believe it when I read it. Was everyone just pissed? what kicked off the fighting?

no-ones knows what started it and the police are investigating it.the man opposite us was arrested yesterday morning ut released.

everyone usually does get very drunk when its the last night of teh festival.but its was peeing down with rain all day saturday so the festival ended early.

the fireworks were pretty poo aswell!dd loved it though and is now constantly saying "i like it pink"!!!!(the last big firework was pink!)

Maybe they're connected....the riot and the next-door-to-the-chippy fire????

no,house fire looks very dodgy tbh.the man was sleeping in his caravan in teh back garden with his wife when teh house wenty up.looks like insurance job.apparently hes done it before.he put the chip pan on and went out.his whole house burnt down.

Do they reckon it was rival caravanners from Haven and Greenacres come for a ruck on the sea front?

people round here seem to think its the porthmadog lot and pwlhelli lot that have come for the festival that have got drunk then started fighting.it was on the maes, and apparently, the police were at one side of teh road and the 'mob' were at the other side.once the police arrived, everyone started throwing things at them.

one man was put in handcuffs and put in a police car,his mates didnt like that,so started hitting the police while someone let the man out of the police car and he was running around to get away from the police!

as a child we used to visit criccieth every year as part of our holiday to North WAles (we would visit my greatauntie who was in a residential home there)and the highpoint of the whole holiday was fish and chips in the restaurant and cadwaladers icecream.
good to hear they are still there and survived the riot.
unusual place for a riot!
