Mum told to stop breastfeeding her baby at local pool

In our local paper today, there is this story about a mum who was told to stop feeding her baby at our local pool. I am in two minds about it despite having breastfed my own children as I wouldn't expect to see a baby being bottlefed in the pool.

She was asked not to feed in the jacuzzi, not the whole pool area.
Why could she just not sit at the edge.

I merrily fed DD anywhere!!
Saying that when we went swimming I got out & fed her on the side or back in the changing rooms, mainly because I didn't want her to vom in the pool.
DD2 is bottle fed & I always feed her after a swim. Not before or during!

Actually in the pool isn't on - sitting at the side would be fine, if cold, though.

Seems reasonable not to want any extra body fluids in the water, she could have sat out and fed. If they'd objected then, I think she'd be right to complain.

Babies shouldn't be in a jacuzzi anyway, the temperature is a real problem for them. Tbh I am not sure I would be comfortable with it in the pool. Sitting on the side would be different but then I guess the baby would get cold. .. hmm, not an easy one really.

Reading the article, no food or drink in the pool but welcome to breastfeed at the side seems pretty reasonable of the leisure centre tbh.

I would just sit on the side of the pool with a towel around the baby, to keep them warm.

Breastfeeding in the jacuzzi isn't a good idea because of the heat.

I'm very pro bf anywhere but I would think its sensible not to feed in the pool. I've sat at the side before.

I think she was unreasonable tbh. Firstly a baby should not be in a jacuzzi as it's too hot. Secondly, why couldn't she sit on the side and bf? I've fed all 3 of mine in loads of places and never been asked not, of couse this might be down to luck. The recent thread where the mum was asked by a train guard to feed her baby in the train toilet was outrageous but I don't think that this situation is the same at all.

No eating or drinking means just that, if a mother has to move to feed a baby a bottle then the same standard should apply for breastfeeding.

I read a comment from.the mum online. She was not in the jacuzzi that was misreported she was on the side of the chikdrens pool. So legs dangling in, baby on lap but not in pool. And apparently they told her she couldnt feed in the centre, not just pool area. She was on leaky boob or analytical armadillo on fb.

Not sure what to believe tbh.
