Definitely get rid of Paxman. Doesn't appear to do research - he appears so ill-informed compared to Andrew Neil for example and gives too much of his own opinion with his over the top expressions and often ill-judged comments. He is coasting along on his reputation.

JoyMachine Sat 25-May-13 00:17:00

Mmmm... is Gavin Essler still on there?

crazynanna Sat 25-May-13 00:11:13

SwedishEdith Fri 24-May-13 16:15:15

Noooooooooooooooooooo to getting rid of Paxman shock I was only thinking the other day about what a National Treasure he is.

ParsingFancy Fri 24-May-13 13:14:53

Noooo, don't get rid of Paxo!

(Or if you do, give him to meeeee.)

EldritchCleavage Fri 24-May-13 13:12:15

Justine-please ask him to make Newsnight serious again (and get rid of Paxman-well past his sell-by).
Thanks!

No one accuses Radio 5-Live of being Left wing.

I like Channel 4 news. They stick up for people at the bottom of the pile.

I wrote to Ian Katz once, possibly a million years ago, about an article he had written in the Guardian about Israel. He wrote back a very gracious and informative reply.

Bloody good journalist.

What d'you think it'll be like when the Guardian finally goes under? Every single person will just be rehired by Auntie. We'll be able to rename the BBC the GBC.

Chipstick10 Mon 20-May-13 14:36:07

More lefties at the bbc, how original.

YoniMatopoeia Mon 20-May-13 10:47:31

Well done him. What a challenge that is to take on.

I may start watching NN again.

JustineMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 20-May-13 10:40:15

Ha yes - on the bright side am definitely off the Newsnight hook now. I shall onpass comments about his nose/farts grin.

clam Sun 19-May-13 00:19:59

Well, at least Justine won't be invited on to NN to be subjected to Will Self wittering on in long words again.

WouldBeHarrietVane Sat 18-May-13 20:47:30

Orla I agree blush

The Vane house will be even more interested in NN now Justine's DH is on it!

ThePathanKhansAmnesiac Sat 18-May-13 20:46:06

Fucking hell Justine! No wonder you always have a glow.
I wouldn,t kick him out of bed for farting.

lowers tone completely

Congratulations grin.

crazynanna Sat 18-May-13 20:38:01

And I love the NN music.

OrlaKiely Sat 18-May-13 20:31:56

Wow this is fabulous.

Well done smile

I have just google imaged him and he is like a far better looking Jeremy Paxman, in some of them...impressive nose as well.

I like him already.

JustineMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 18-May-13 20:24:13

Thanks for congrats all - apparently I am about to become a Newsnight widow...

Dawndonna Sat 18-May-13 19:46:59

Glad you enjoyed it, Clam.

clam Sat 18-May-13 19:01:08

"Oh good, perhaps the beeb will stop being a mouthpiece for the tories"

Seriously???? PMSL!

JustGiveMeFiveMinutes Sat 18-May-13 15:41:52

Well done Ian!

Two pieces of advice: (1) Do your research (2) Don't make Paxman read the weather.

grin

ItsYonliMe Sat 18-May-13 15:34:21

Edam - I do hope he wasn't described as "the husband of the dead clever founder of MN".

Solopower1 Sat 18-May-13 10:07:42

So now more important than ever for Mumsnet to speak truth to power.

ThisIsNotAFlyingToy Fri 17-May-13 23:19:03

Yes, I spotted this yesterday. Didn't see "husband of Justine" though when I googled but their new kitchen extension looks very nice grin

WouldBeHarrietVane Fri 17-May-13 23:14:27

I wondered when a thread would start on this!

Congratulations Justine and Justine's DH smile
