Child modelling

I've just been flicking through the current issue of Easy Living and seen Romeo (I think that's his name) Beckham modelling for Burberry. What I've always wondered about child modelling is what you say to your other, plainer child or children about why one child got picked and they didn't? Does a very photogenic child always have siblings completely indifferent to their success or is it incredibly hurtful to the other child/children when one gets singled out for the spotlight?

I would imagine it#'s similar to having a sibling who is better at maths, sport, more popular, better at acting or anything really. There is always going to be something and as a parent you stress that everyone has their own talents.

NiceTabard True. But looks are less down to talent and effort so it seems like it would be harder as a parent to put a positive spin on it!

I think very good looks can have many negative impacts on a person's life though, in a way that being good at sport or music doesn't? So maybe it all balances out in the end!

I agree and with most other talents and abilities a kid gets to develop them, ignore them or keep them going as and when they want to and are possibly more mature by the time they take to the stage. I don't think I'd like one of my kids asking why the other was modelling and they weren't as it brings the whole subjects of looks into their lives before they need to worry about it. That said, my kids are both absolutely beautiful to me but not model material so I only have to manage others' envy of their amazing personalities, intelligence, popularity, athletic prowess and emotional maturity...
