Melbourne is in shock from this. I just drove inadvertently past her house and the street where she disappeared and there are still people leaving flowers and holding vigil.
It appears that the evil jerk who did this had been released early by the Parole Board from his previous rape and assault offence.www.abc.net.au/news/2012-09-28/jill-meagher-abc-family-friends-tribute/4285564
It is raising a lot of discussion about women and safety in our streets. Lots of young women live in Brunswick and lots of them walk home after a night out.

This story has really got to me. That poor girl Sad

The CCTV footage is really chilling.

That said, If this guy gets put away for life, I don't see how Brunswick/Melbourne is any more dangerous than any other city for women? Unless there have been more violent crimes in the area?

It does make me Shock thinking about all the times I walked home, pissed as a fart, when I was younger though.

She is the second Irish national to be killed in Melbourne in a month. David Greene was killed by a man wielding a hammer in St Kilda after going to the aid of a woman who was being sexually assaulted.
