Anthony Walker's mother

Just read this
In particular, I was stirred by what she said,
"Why live a life sentence? Hate killed my son, so why should I be a victim too?" said Mrs Walker.
"Unforgiveness makes you a victim and why should I be a victim? Anthony spent his life forgiving. His life stood for peace, love and forgiveness and I brought them up that way. I have to practice what I preach. I don't feel any bitterness towards them really, truly, all I feel is... I feel sad for the family."
I think she is a very dignified woman and I wonder if I could be so stoic and forgiving if something as dreadful like the murder of her son happened to me.
I suppose if one carries around hate inside them, then you become embittered and it erodes your ability to feel compassion. Jesus said that we must forgive if we wish to be forgiven. I don't know if I can live up to that but I recognise that to be able to forgive sets you free so that you can leave in peace.
Gee Walker is an inspiration.

She's amazing. I don't think I could be.

Really amazing isn't it - like Abigail Witchells - who also has said she has no hate for the person that stabbed her.

I hope the murderers are affected by her words and will spend their long years in prison reflecting on what they have done.

It is so sad but she is amazingly strong, I am in awe of her.

She has got so much strength from her faith as well, as did the Witchalls
Truly amazing, I would not be like that, but I do agree that letting them trap you and the rest of your family into a lifetime of hate is horrendous to contemplate, but moving on after something like that...
Truly incredible.

she is a devoted christian and she has to forgive or otherwise it will eat her up the bitterness and angerness. What an amazing woman!

So true Northener but one has to hope that with time they will develop a conscience because if they don't, I shudder to think what they will be like if they are ever released back into society.
