Why does my bed sheet not stay on the mattress?

We have a double bed and we have double sheets. But, the sheet never seems to stay on the mattress,it always creeps up at the corners and pings off. The mattress is deeper than our old mattress but surely a double sheet should stay on a double mattress no matter the depth no?

Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have a solution to this? Should I just buy king size sheets?

I have the same problem since getting a new memory foam matress, which is deeper than the old matress. My fitted bottom sheets won't stay on.
I bought king size flat sheets instead of fitted bottom sheets, and have had no problems since.

I read somewhere that having a mattress protector covering your mattress helps keep your fitted sheet on the bed (as well as protecting your mattress!). We have a cotton mattress protector on our bed (like this one) and our sheets don't come off. That said, the mattress is just a standard depth, not one of those really deep ones.

We have a memory topped mattress. 2 types of fitted cover stay on....one from John Lewis as they do special, extra deep covers and one normal one which I sewed 'suspenders' to.

Just buy some 3/4" elastic and sew in a diagonal across the corners about 6" from the end. It holds the sheets tight and stops them pinging off.

I think you can buy similar things from Kleeneze/Betterware but the elastic is cheaper.

We get this too - I have actually bought an extra-deep fitted sheet from Dunelm which is much better - just need to buy more now and get rid of the others!

I hate this, we have it too, especially on husbands side cos he wriggles more. Fitted ones don't stay on our deeper mattress. I bought flat sheets, problem solved. Just a faff to make bed now. Might try Alcrowley's idea with elastic.

I bought extra deep 16 inch (I think) from Ebay no problem now. Had bought both dorma and denelm extra deep but they still pinged.

We have elastic clip things on DH's side because he is the squirmy one which anchor the sheet beautifully.

These, in fact.

I've had this. But I got two from John Lewis (own brand) and they stay on a lot better.

You need to measure the depth of the mattress (including any toppers) and check that the extra deep sheets go up to that depth.

I'm desperate to know what comment is worthy of deletion on a thread about fitted sheets.

OP need extra deep sheets

Hmm, let's try again. I was just posting about drawstring bed sheets. They solve the loose sheet thing completely. Totally appropriate answer to the posted question. Maybe if I leave off the link it will not get flamed.

I always buy sheets for extra deep mattresses. Standard size will always come off if mattress is too deep.

We have a deep double but I use king size fitted sheets on it for this same reason.

This gives me the absolute rage, possibly the ragiest thing I have to deal with in my whole life (apart from skintness, health, etc!). I am ordering some elastic clippy things before I go insane.

Interesting that other people hate this phenomenon as much as I do. I have been known to insist dh gets out of bed at 2am (along with sleeping baby) to remake the bed, it annoys me sooooo much.

I buy sheets with valances attached and tuck them right under our v.deep mattress, there's about a foot of balance bit tucked under so no chance of it coming out. I didn't know they made special sheets!
