Re-fluffing a blanket...? please help

Not sure if this is in the right section, but I have a baby blanket that my dear old grandmother made before she died for when I would eventually had a baby (bless) - anyway I used it when DD was born and then got it out again for my soon to be born DC2. Anyway, in his usual style DH put it in the washing machine and all the fluffiness has come out of it - it's crocheted, and I'm not sure if it's actually wool, it seemed more synthetic than that but I could be wrong - it was very soft.

Any ideas on how I can re-fluff it so to speak? It's almost as though it needs a good brush (but that would ruin it)

My mum is coming to stay next week and will be really upset to see it in its current state

Tumble drying makes towels and blankets fluffier so might be worth a try.

thanks, just worried about shrinking it on top of everything else! maybe I could tumble it on a low heat?

It could be that it dried too quick too. You could try washing it either by hand or on a very low heat and then keep fluffing it as it dries.
