PLEASE help me clean my McLauren buggy before MIL finds out!

MIL bought us a brand new Mclauren which wasn't cheap. We have hardly used it. We still had the cosy toes on it from the winter (but had taken the cover bit off so it was more like just a buggy liner. Well - there is mould under it! I think it must of been a bit of food that DD had in it and it got trapped under the fleece liner thing so didn't get cleaned up!

The buggy is bright pink and has other marks I need to get out - but the mould is the main problem!

I have sprayed loads of antibactirial multi purpose spray on and scrubbed it but it isn't budging at all!

I thought about taking the cover off and soaking it overnight in milton. BUT would that take the colour out? It is bright pink so would really notice if it faded!

If the cover is a bit faded, it's because you've used the buggy so much - just take it for a run in the mud before MIL makes her appearance

maclaren covers come off and go in the washing machine well

but if you are worrieda about mil, leave bottom of cosytoes in of get a sheepskin liner to cover it

Take the covers off and put them through the washing machine on a delicate or handwash cycle. I have done that loads with my Maclaren covers with no problems, although, I have never had the pink one.

I couldn't get mould off my cover I'm afraid (rogue apple left in it for weeks!)

The only thing that improved it was a mould and mildew spray (careful as it contains bleach, but didn't discolour mine) and then I noticed leaving it in the sun improved it further.

HTH

I really hope I can get it off!! I scrubbed it again last night but not the slightest bit of difference!

I am going to take the cover off later - had a hectic evening last night so didn't get round to it as you need a screwdriver to take it off (PITA!).

WHat did everybody think about the milton idea? Do you think it would work or just take the colour out? Hoping it will be sunny today so I can leave it out in the garden in the sun!

are you sure you need a screwdriver?
i havent ever taken one of with a screwdriver, you can normally just wiggle fabric around and over screwed in bits

I didn't need a screwdriver for mine either.

Good luck

I used Dettol Mould and Mildew remover at the recommendation of another Mumsnetter. My buggy is grey but I think hers was pink and brown. I will try and find the thread.

Can't find the thread as it was in the Wanted section.

Anyway I find the Dettol very effective and as far as I can tell it did not fade my pram.

LOL ok I will give it a go without the screwdriver! And I will get some of that mould anf mildew remover! It is sunbathing in the garden at the moment, along with my washing. Have been at toddlers all morning so haven't done anything yet!

Will keep you updated!

Thanks all!
