Get dressed!

Go to see mortgage advisor to arrange mortgage
Go to estate agents with mortgage promise

Pick up Ds from nursery
DS has a friend round this afternoon (which I am looking forward to as the mummy is a friend of mine!)

What on earth is for dinner? Have half a swede, potatoes and a bag of parsnips and a head of broccoli - any inspiration? Don't fancy soup AGAIN
Need to do all the usual tidying things too

Hello everyone.
Hello TMH you are very kind to be bothering with our missions and babysteps. Whatever you forget, your DH will bring, do, sort out. Go into the garden, look at something springlike which is coming up (not a weed though or a job to be done) and don't think about anything else for two mins. It will be waiting when you return from hospital, it will have grown and flourished despite everything.

Broccoli - sesame seed salad from Delia's Xmas with baked potatoes? Pasta with brocoli and garlic sauce (presumably you don't eat anchovy)? Crispy oven baked root veg chunks with parmesan & puy lentil vinaigrette with hot broccoli florets.
Broccoli and tomato quiche? Gratin of few parsnips to a lot of potatoes with cream and milk and crispy cheese top? Think swede might be too sweet to mix with parsnips in gratin.

Dcs to school, in good mood and full of beans but we seem to be particularily chaotic this morning, everyone talking non-stop on varying subjects.
DH has instituted a new rule which I am delighted with. Dcs are going to do all homework at 5.00pm come what may and not prevaricate endlessly I'm just finishing this, or I just want to build this, read this, I'm tired etc. Ds1 had got into a habit of waiting till Dad came home to do his to get "special time".

AM
Routines
Dress for work
hoover playroom
what's for dinner - defrosted cass and baked potatoes, asparagus pasta for dh
brief stint at work

PM
Paperwork
few errands re: paperwork
Parents' eve at school
violin practice dd

Ds2 went to Beavers last night, he is behaving so well there, and very cheery. Dd had a complete meltdown because she now wants to go back (having said she never wanted to go again because she hated dodgeball) and is jealous that he's wearing HER uniform. It seems that sibling rivalry never ends. But this morning she seems fine again and ws delighted with an elaborate hairdo involving 6 hairslides.

Hello Everyone Good to see you all.

DONE
Up and down with crockery
Empty DW
Put away
Empty WM and sort for drying

Wash and dress
Get bags ready
Wave the school walk off
Up with wet washing
Put away the mountain of dry laundry
Hang up wet washing
Take damp washing down to dry

I've had to stop now as legs don't like me now (bah) so I'm in bed.

Mad You focus on you and yours, the house will be OK, honest. I'm thinking of you.

Morning all TMH Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Have you got a good book to take?
Swan Love all your ideas for tea - you sound like an excellent cook. Nowt wrong with weeds though, I love our nettles and dandelions, and cleavers, and comfrey and the rest of them.
Wolf Sounds like you have a good evening yesterday. Was the film good?

To do
Change kids bedding
Hand washing when done
Ironing (didn't get round to this yesterday as a friend dropped in instead)
Clear up kitchen
Empty dishwasher
Birthday cards for SIL & friend
Figure out how to sell stuff on ebay
Put some photo software onto computer

My problem is that I get to the evening and am too tired to do anything, and I forget all the little jobs that I think of as evening/watching TV jobs (like the mending, or writing letters). The I remember them the next day and think, ah, but I could do them while I'm watching TV tonight!

BBL (took me a while to figure that one out too )

Hi all.

Herb - I do that too. It takes me ages to remember to sew name tapes in etc.

Swan - Homework rule sounds good. at the 6 slide hairstyle.

Mad - I agree, you need a good book (or 2) some magazines and ipod/cd player, drinks and snacks.

wolf - you and dh sound like me and dh lol.

galen - co-ordinating dd nursery with ds nap time sounds like a great plan!

To do
laundry
ds homework
etc...

I have books at home, which he can bring in or I can read at home, as I am having lymph nodes removed my arms will be sore, so I thought mags were best idea.

I have just come in from my poundland trip so not have moist loo roll too.

I just have my bag to pack and that is it

I have a selection of new little toys, books, crayons etc for the mini mads, treat food for them too.

Afternoon all!
mad sounds like your doing great. Will be thinking of you
swan youre sounding very positive this morning. Love the idea of finding a plant in the garden for mad to focus on - may do the same if I can find one through the weeds LOL
wendy good luck with dinner! No idea what were having yet and normally have it made by this time - oops!
ehm hoping you have a good toilet day LOL
grouchy take it easy!
wolf Hi
herb scatty I'm so bad for not doing those evening type of jobs! I have now finally accepted that I am far too tired to do anything much in the evenings and really only plan the essentials for evenings as I NEED time to sit and read/watch TV/ unwind, and always got to bed early!

Have had a strange day so far. I'm in a funny mood - dont know why...maybe hormones?Feeling abit bleugh and aaarrgh all at the same time....no real reason though.
Anyway music toddlers was cancelled so went shopping. Think I may FINALLY have bought the right size bra after 3 weeks of trying LOL
Not been back long so not much done... house not too bad though.
Have waxed/plucked my eyebrows though and straightened my hair - look almost normal now LOL

Going to do now:
DW on
Laundry reboot
Sweep floors
Sort dinner
School pick up

I need to spend some time thinking about our evenings too.
That whole after school/dinner/ bath time turns into chaos so often and I always end up as grumpy mummy Need to look at our routines and add some more structure I think....need to get the older ones onboard more somehow...of course always better in the summer when we can go out more....

Right must dash and do something..... oh heck have NO motivation today. What on earth is wrong with me?

Galen I feel like that about eves, why has this relatively simple succession of events (Wendy and Mad's description of bedtime used to be ours too), park, play, homework, supper, bath, bedtime become so complicated? I keep trying to go bck to basics, tho' diff with Scouts and kids' desire to socialise.
Like you, I'm looking forward to Spring and just running around outside a bit more, well watching others run around..
Did your other dcs go to Nursery at 3yrs or were they home-educated at that stage?

Afternoon All

EHM, Wendy You have both managed to have my in floods of tears this afternoon for all the right reasons. Thank you so much your gifts I will take both of them into hospital with me

Everyone else thank you for the kind wishes and I am not brave, it was Hobsons choice really , but I greatfully accept all postive thought tomorrrow at 9.30 am ish

I have made bolegnease for tonight
Sausage casarole for them all tomorrow
Mince and Onion for Sat
With MIL on Sunday
Lasagne in Freezer for Monday
Well you get the picture I have cooked enough to do two weeks, so that DH can concentrate on me and the children

I have spent some time with the boys and will be taking mum home soon.

DH is going to be late in, so that he can have the next 2 weeks off

Swan I have been doing that everyday I am really happy with my primroses. I has made me realise we need to pop some bulbs in - this was a new build 2 years ago and we are slowly transforming it from builders rubbel muddy mess to a garden, we have not done bad, but need more planting, when finance allow. DH is hoping to pop in 3 raised beds for veggies this year instead of all the tubs we used last year.

Oh my message was longer

galen Bedtime has to be really simple for me, as I too am tired and my two were only 15 months apart. Pardon me if I am telling you how to suck eggs

Even now both boys do part themselves. We have a wash basket in the downstairs loo - they put their own dirtys in it.

Other routines are bath, PJ's, Milk, TV, Stories and bed

Whislt they are in the bath or I am running it, I get their clothes out for the day, pop in a basket and take down with me.

I insist that we have quiet time after bath, only things allowed are colouring, reading, puzzels or board games. It really helps them wind down.

Galen, I think you mean the whole cboodle don't you... the aftr school sort of muddle not just bedtime...
Sometimes it's lovely to give them early bath too at 5.30 lots of time just to splosh around (I think you do that don't you TMH?)
TMH, raised bed veggies sound brilliant, someone else's pumpkin creeper came over my fence last year, and I felt very of their flair. Have an entire WW2 bombshelter (seriously) under our lawn which makes it not ideal for the cultivation of veg and it is rather dark and shady or should I say sylvan. And has a ancient underground urban river sunk thro middle v. boggy. We grow desert plants on one side, and bog plants on other tbh.

Done parents' eve - soundbites really and targets. Hate the way the children write LO (learning objective) at beginning of every piece of work what a tiresome way for a 6 yr old to have to think about world. But teachers lovely (I think they are just a bit hassled by their workload).

Done
laundry
work
floors
beds
made some cheese and tom bread aha [from a packet] but required lots of hand kneading and rising
poatoes in oven

Now 5mins to go before homework SLOT.

TheMadHouse · 26/02/2009 17:32

Swan You are right both the boys have been bathed already and have had 30 mins in.

Tonight we are all eating together in about 5 mins so an early bath was fine. I start the wind down after bath, so depending how livewire they are often depends on bath time.

Mum is home
DH has just walked through the door
Pasta just going in water
Boys are bathed nad in PJ's
Clothes all sorted for tomorrow

Ruby I am currently on a 2 - too late to panic now.

Although I am very sad to hear that Wendy Richards has lost her battle agains breast cancer today, infact I had a little cry in the car dropping mum hope

Hi all.

GO - lovely post. Don't feel bad, its really hard to keep track of everyone (I am hopeless!). I always think of you and Ed when I see LEGO LOL!

Galen, swan - I agree, evenings seems to get harder as they get older (more to fit in with school work, clubs etc). Mine just don't seem tired enough to go to bed until 8pm! I am having some success with audiobook and star chart combo (ds has got really into the Famous Five LOL).

Mad - you are doing really well. We will all be thinking of you . When do you expect to be home?

Done
very little (except make paper dolls with ds and dress babies with dd).
