Ditto too. Seriously thinking of hiring a skip and pushing the whole lot out of the window into it.

Start with one room at a time, and choose one corner of it.

Get three bags or boxes - one to "keep", one to "bin" and one to "freecycle/charity shop".

Sort everything in the corner into the boxes, and move across the room, decluttering everything in this way.

When you have cleared everything out of the room, vacuum, dust, polish etc.

Put back the contents of your "keep" boxes - or leave them in the box if they should go in another room.

Get rid of the "bin" and "freecycle/charity shop" stuff.

When you've done this to the whole house, write yourself a cleaning routine and stick to it - for example you could thoroughly clean one room each day, and keep up with dishes/laundry every day as well.

I've just done this and it is helping quite a bit

Know that feeling well! I am trying to sort out my house after 12 years of minimal housework, in the vain hope I can sell it sometime soon. I'm pg with DC2 & have not reached the blooming stage yet & wondering if I ever will! DD1 turned 2 last week & keeps accumulating more & more stuff. DH was off last week & sorted through the loft. He took 4 car loads to the Community Waste Disposal place & several boxes to local charity shops & we still have the rest of the house to declutter, tidy & deep clean . I packed a lot of DD's outgrown clothes up yesterday in vaccuum bags. They were £1 each from Poundland & means they will now take up half the space they did. Have gone through 12 years of paperwork, kept essentials & shredded the rest. I think it's going to take forever to get this house looking presentable especially as I have little money to through at it. Blowing it up, somehow accidently so I could claim on insurance seems quite a good solution...

I have told dh that ideally I would like to empty the entire house into a skip and start again. He looks at me as if I am mad.

Please someone tell me they feel the same...?

Completely agree and have said the same on a regular basis!

See my post of 10:45 and you can quote me! Unfortunately, no skips delivering today so am headed off to the spare room, also known as the Hell Pit, with a roll of bin bags, a radio and a bag of fun size Mars bars.

If there are no posts from me in the next 24 hours, phone the lifeboats.

I threw away a whole bin bag of socks

No idea if they matched or not.
