Cleaning mattress after bed wetting

sunshineandsnowflakes · 28/01/2009 10:19

DS has new "normal size" bed and I haven't yet got a plastic sheet for it.

He almost never wets the bed but (typically)did last night.

Would you just clean with soapy water or put something like bicarb in to absorb smell as well?

TIA!

Same happened to me, before I put the waterproof mattress protector on, typical isn't it.

I used that Vanish carpet/upholstery spray, comes in a pink bottle. You spray it on, it's a bit foamy and then rub with a wet Jcloth and allow to dry. Then I turned mattress over to give it a chance to air underneath if that makes sense. It's pretty good stuff - used to use it for red wine on the carpet (in the old days) and toddler sick (these days!) and seems to work well.

put vinigar on a cloth and wipe it over, if that fails put some cat litter on it and leave for a couple of hours and hoover off. vinigar neutralises smell of wee!
