clothes, stains advise please

Dont know if its me - or the washing maching being crap but ...

DD's clothes (she's 2) are frequently shoved in washing machine with mud, paint, food etc on them - using fairy non bio and comfort just doesn't cut it...

Whats best to use??

oh, and Im a lazy sod with better things to do than stand and scrub every sleeve, knee and hem with vanish - so easy products too please

I've recently been adding a bit of borax to my stained loads and it does seem to help
