How do you get the toxic paint smell out of a new chest of drawers?

I brought a lovely wooden chest of drawers for my new baby (due in three weeks). The drawers are painted white inside and out and when you open them they smell strongly of new furniture and paint.

I washed all teh newborn clothes last week and put them in the drawers. Not they all stick of chemicals and paints and there is no way I can dress a baby in them .

Any ideas how to get them smell to go??? I have tried leaving them open but its not working.

Try airing them outside for a bit.

I always use bicarb of soda and a few drops of lavendar oil to get rid of nasty smells. It works on sick and toilet smells but not sure about paint.

Thanks (although I hate the smell of onions). I will go with bicarb and lavender and if it fails I will resort to the onion.
