How do you clean your little green scrubber? (this is not a thread about Martian prostitutes)

The sponge things with a scrubby side to them for washing up.

Can they go in the dishwasher? Better in the washing machine? I am reluctant to boil or microwave them because it will make the house smell of boiled dishcloth.

It's not really a financial issue - am not keen on disposing of things with plenty of life left in them.

I wash them with hot water and detergent but I throw them away after about a week, max two

You'll probably use up more costs in energy cleaning them, Broccoli old thing.

Just one thing, I thought Martians were red? Is it just the prostitutes that are green?

I stopped buyin them and now just use dishclothes that go on a hot wash in the wm.

I hate throwing things away.

Put mine in machine unless they are so old they mihgt disintegrate. Fine so far. With white wash.

I do use dishcloths and bung them in the washing machine, but there's nothing like a scrubby sponge for cleaning an intricate high chair that's been used for a BLW 6-month-old's morning porridge.

I'm going to put them in the dishwasher and hope they don't end up melted to the rack, or sodden with dishwasher water at the end.

mine have a life-cycle

1 - washing up
2 - cleaning kitchen
3 - cleaning bathroom
4 - handed over to DH for nefarious DIY purposes (so he doesn't pinch the new ones)
5 - bin

I don't, I just chuck em out when they start to look a bit past it.

I put mine through the washing machine, come out good as new and get a lot of use out of them.

I cut them into 4 so that I don't feel bad about binning them when they get a bit manky.

Well - not massively impressed with dishwasher washing. I suppose they will have been up to a high enough temp that they can be considered clean again, but they came out with dishwasher bits on them and needed a bit of a rinse.

Will try washing machine next time.

this is probably really obvious but im really dumb, i just wanted to know what BLW is?

also, i put mine in the machine with all the dishcloths and towels and wash at 95 degrees. i do this each time theyre used.

Not a silly question - BLW is baby led weaning. It means letting your baby feed himself with human food, not pureeing and spoonfeeding. It makes a mess.More about it here.
