Not sure what to get - sofa advice please!

I've just received an insurance payment, and decided to use it to buy a new sofa for the living room. I'm just not sure what to get. My current one is fabric and has not lasted well at all - very saggy cushions and not too comfortable! I would quite like a lighter colour, and wonder if I would be better going for leather rather than fabric again. Any advice or recommendations where to buy please?

we brought leather sofas recently havign alwasy ahd fabric oens as wasnlt kene on leather. have to say with small children in the house and one potty training they have been a godsend, just wipe them clean, i don;t knwo why we resisted for so long.

the only part of your request that would put me off buying leather is the lighter colour so would assume you are tlaking cream or yellow? which i think unless excellent quality cna look a bit cheap

ours are black, i wanted chestnut brown but got bargain brand new ones from ebay for £160! so changed my colour scheme rather than spend another £2800 on the same sofa in chestnut brown.

My vote would be for leather - can wipe stickiness off it and it is much easier to clean. And you can put throws etc on it if you want to snuggle up and watch a DVD.

Not sure if this is relevant, but dogs and cats don't seem to like leather furniture as much as fabric, so the furniture suffers less from trashing by pets.

No advice as to where to get one from, sorry.

We bought cream leather from Furniture Village in 2003? when we were child-free. They look ok now, a bit grubby on the seats but tbh we are lax at trying to clean them, I'm sure that they could be better. I intend to try to hang on to them until yet tbd dc2 is out of nappies so ime cream leather has worn well though next time I would probably go for a mid brown.

I think leather would be more practical. When I think of the number of times ds has spilt something on my fabric ones!!! I would really like a nice cream fabric, but I know it wouldn't be practical with a young child!
