Carpet cleaning advice please!

Have always had our living room carpet cleaned professionally and they do a good job but it costs about £70 a go and cash is tight atm. Would it be a false economy to hire a Rug Dctor? There are areas of extreme dirt though not terrible stains but I don't want to bother if it isn't going to be up to the job.

We hired a carpet cleaner for a weekend, and it did an excellent job. I think it worke dout at about £40, and we kept the unfinished bottle of carpet cleaner, which we use for spot cleaning.

I got a carpet cleaner from Lakeland and it's great! I think it cost £120, and that's soon paid back with the children (and the parents if I'm honest!) making their messes - obviously has the advantage that you can do it when you want and straight away after parties etc. So if you're as mucky as us then I would buy one.

Poppycake is it the Bissell Powerwash deluxe?

I have a smaller Bissell. It's fab but I can only use it on the carpets and hard floor. It sucks up soo much gunk though it's shocking!

Yes it's a Bissell. We bought a house where the carpets were "somewhat antiquated" and the black goo that comes out was just frightening! Great for dd's little accidents. You can get special liquid for dealing with pet hair/dander too
