Housekeeping

Boring but...also strangely interesting question about hoovers.

I have a Henry. I love him, but he is large and ungainly and, while brilliant for serious blitzing, I want a smaller hoover for every day use. Preferably one with a shoulder strap. It needs to be pretty powerful (we have cats) so probably not rechargable. We have mostly wooden floors with a bit of carpet and a bit of vinyl type stuff. And lots of corners and steps - no big expanses of floor to clean.

Has anyone got one that you love and which would suit me and you can recommend?

I love my handheld Dyson. Very powerful, but it is a rechargable so only lasts 6 minutes on a full battery. However, this is usually enough for me to whip round and do all the 'bits' between serious blitzes. It's great for corners and steps, skirting boards, cobwebs on picture rail....
