Start an Indesit Washing machine??

Just bought one from Ebay...... plugged it in and it just flashes at me! The door lock light just flashes very quickly and the green spin light flashes also....makes a noise too.

Its an indesit w1a101

Any help greatly appreciated.

TIA

MAke sure you have lined up the dial EXACTLY. I once called an engineer ut because mine wouldn't spin. Until I realised if I had moved the dial around a nano of a centimetre it would have clicked into place and started.

IS it 2nd hand? Any instructions at all?

luda! If anything like mine there's a button to turn the power on (oval shaped ish) which is slightly bigger than the one to start it (circular one). You have to turn the power on, turn the dials to the setting you want:

On mine number 2 is a full wash & number 8 a timesaver wash, on whatever temp you want. A number 2 at 40C takes about 2hours, a number 8 at 40C takes about 40 mins

If the spin light's still flashing, try pressing the smaller button to start it as whoever has had it before you may have stopped it mid-cycle for some reason so you'd probably be better off trying that or finding out from them.

hth. if you need me to, I'll root out the book for mine fo you to have a look at if you email me your address again

Report
ludaloo · 28/09/2008 16:35

nope....found the instructions...it says in there if the door light and at least one other light flashes rapidly, then there is a fault

I feel a bit sick really...think we've been had

have you tried re-setting it by holding start button in for a few seconds?

It says in my book if on/off light & at least one other light flashes at same time, unplug it for a minute, plug back in and see what happens. If it still happens then there's a fault but I would try re-set first or see if it's half way through a spin or something along those lines.

Hope you've not been had, even 2nd hand washers aren't cheap!

Or go the new people at the house where he was? They should know where he has moved to???

we contemplated that....it took dh 4 and a half hours round trip today to pick it up....but there's no point going back...they can just say it was working when they had it.

Just a bummer of a lesson to learn

Ah well...on the bright side there was 28p in the filter!
