PROBLEM WITH WASHING MACHINE........please help!

Put it on before we walked to school and it was still on and faffing around when I came back!

Put it on spin and felt the machine was very hot. It spun the clothes and I left it for a while.

When I went to take it out later the clothes were boiling hot!

What could it be before I pay out for a fella to come and fix it!!?

did you put it on the right setting? did you or your child accidentally set it to a 95 degree wash? I occasionally give my nappies a blast on a 95 wash and its a very long wash too - they come out hot (but not boiling).

If the machine is a hot and cold fill (rather than just cold fill) it may be related to your boiler/hot water supply?

I would set it again on a quick wash and observe it to see what happens. At least then if you have to call a fella (or a woman ) out to fix it you have more idea at which stage it is going wrong.

is it a washer/dryer and you accidentally put it on to dry for a few minutes?

have you cleaned out the filter recently?

have you cleaned out the detergent tray recently?

If no to all of the above, put another wash on and see if the same thing happens - it may have just been a one off

Please though, do not leave it running when you are not in the house until you know it is ok.

Good advice from StG. My friend did that and had to have all downstairs flooring, plus bases of kitchen cabinets replaced.

ooh thanks everyone!

Rang DH who presumed I had put it on a hot 90 degree wash!

I think he was right! I redid the wash on 30 degrees and it seems fine!

Phew! Was dreading to think I might have to pay out for someone.

feel a bit daft now!
