is there anything she has told you in the past she/they enjoy together? maybe gardening or reading or anything else really? try and get her something along those lines so it's something for her to enjoy.

I always struggle when I get vouchers to know what to get with them so they sit for ages in my purse which seems a bit of a waste. Noot thoughtless though, if moneys tight she may well appreciate being able to go and get what they want/need

Maybe put some money in a birthday card .If money is tight she would know what to spend it on .it wont be impersonal as i struggle with christmas birthday pressie etc..Maybe a bunch of flowers as well.Chocolates ?.Food hamper.Try and chat and ask what she likes of course not dropping too many hints so what ever you decide it will be a lovely surprise.good luck

Vouchers are fine- I like garden centre ones as you can buy plants etc, but equally they usually sell other 'gifty' things, often nice foodie stuff etc.

my wonderful cleaner was 60 earlier this year.

i think its a nice idea to try to get a little present if you can. she's into cross-stitch so I got her a little kit; and a couple of very pretty little tealight holders for her front room that she had redecorated. I also put an extra weeks wages in a card.
