Cleaners for a house move - Surrey ?

mousemole · 12/08/2008 08:41

does anyone know of a good company to do a 'one off' big clean when we move from our house. it is being rented out and we need a professional company to do it so that the tennants do the same when they are finished.
I got a horrendous quote from 'my home' and am hoping there are cheaper options out there !

How much did they quote? We would have paid £300 for our small three bed semi in the West Midlands.....

No, sorry. I wasn't very helpful there. I was trying to give you a comparison.
It was with a company called Sparkleclean I think. The chap who quoted me is an agent with Ovenu to clean the ovens and also cleans quarters (military base) to march out standard.

your quote is in line with what I was quoted. I was just at how much it was. So £400 ( my quote) for 2 people for 5 hours = ten hours of work, for which they get £40 an hour ! My cleaner is £7 an hour !!

I know....I just paid £90 for 2.5 hours work cleaning a cooker and an oven hood . It was SPOTLESS though. It looked like new and for us it is worth the money as we will just get billed if it isn't up to standard.
Could you ask your cleaner if she wants some extra work? I bet she would jump at it. It is much easier to clean an empty house than one with furniture in.
We normally just pay up because of the hassle of moving and distances we can move, but I have just done a local move and we will be doing our own cleaning. I have this weekend set aside for it. Lucky me!

That was two people working this morning. They expect their clean to take two people one day I believe (including the cooker).

I think I used MollyMaids last time - they were fine but I think it all depends on the team you get. Have you considered getting the Oven Cleaning Co in - they are fab!

I am just over the river from you

VP - thanks for the info. I have got oven shine coming in to do the cooker and the hood and I think I'll see if my normal cleaner can do the rest of the cleaning when we have left. As you say much easier to do when the house is empty. Claricebeansmum, like you I have heard mixed reports about Mollymaids and when I rang them last night the answering machine message said they were on holiday ! Hello to you from over the river ! We are moving to Edinburgh but hope to be back in the not too distant future !
