Cleaning the door seal on a washing machine

Fizzylemonade · 06/05/2008 14:51

Ok, I live in a hard water area and just inside my washing machine door where that huge grey rubber seal is I have brown marks which I assume are limescale build-up. (I have had the machine years and this is a new problem)

Any top tips for cleaning it?

I use Ecover limescale remover for my sinks but I don't know if I can use it on rubber.

Eugh it definitely isn't black mildew or mould.

I always use the correct amount of biological detergent because I know that the manufacturer researches the amount of detergent and I know nothing about science

It is just pale brown marks and patches. It looks like the limescale that you get down the bottom of the toilet.

Anyone?????

I just wipe mine every time I use it. It's at least 10 years old but not scuzzy at all.

I have a brown seal and a pongy machine too ... and limescale at the bottom of the toilet

Wiping doesnt seem to make a difference. Darent use anything strong in case wreck seal.

I have bought a washing machine service product from trusty old lakeland so when that arrives I shall use it and hopefully it will remove all the gak.

SniffyHock -you wipe yours everytime?? I take my hat off to you. I religiously pull the seal to see that there is nothing blocking the drainage holes, do I get brownie points for that??
