is a "menu plan" a posh term for logging onto Ocado with a vague notion of what meals you might cook in the next week?

i think i menu plan for about 4 days out of 7. The other days are pot luck.

well in an ideal world I'd menu plan, but I right now I just make sure I have stuff in my freezer that is easy to cook as most nights I'm not feeling up to cooking, for those days when I'm not feeling so low I have stuff to cook proper meals too.

We don't menu plan at all - but do shop in the knowledge of the things that we usually have in the week, and have a freezer full of fish/chicken/mince etc. DH hates to be told what he has to cook that night.

I don't plan what I will watch on TV (I flick till I find something I like), I don't plan what I will wear (I open my wardrobe and have a ponder)

you can't really menu plan if you use internet shopping as you never know what will turn up and what the use by dates will be

and when I go to the supermarket I want it to be as a novelty not a weekly chore!

I have a rough idea of what I'll make and buy accordingly. I have extra bits and pieces in so if I don't fancy what I bought, i can do something else.

When I didn't I found that food was going off as I didn't use it up and ti cost loads more

I just base the meals on the weekly veg box and buy my usual holding-it-all-togehter ingredients like cheese, eggs, pasta, lentils, tinned toms etc etc.

I can't do planning ahead. I never know when I'll be in and how many I will be feeding.

OK coddy - I admit I don't do it, and should. I like the idea of menu planning, but somehow don't get around to it.

Why not start a thread listing current spring/summer menu plans that can inspire us 'heathens' to become planning converts?

Especially think it is a good idea given recent dramatic rises in food costs...

i do menu plan
tis boring
but otherwise I end up chucking too much out stuff out or getting to wednesday and finding there is only pasta and baked beans in the house or haivng to do lots of extra shopping at lunchtimes
