Hi and happy new year, never posted in this section before. I'm hoping to try and get into some resemblance of order in our house this year.

I had a look at the links which seem like they might give me a bit of direction. One problem though... for some reason DP has shined the sink this morning. Does that mean I have nothing to do?

Happy 2008 All

Welcome to jorange5 and Trinity

Hope you all had a good night whatever you were doing. DH was up until gawd knows what time doing his accounts...so I couldn't get on the comp, so I watched Jules Holland and then flicked over to watch the fire works in London.

My New Year Resolutions:
~Less shouty too...that's a good one..
~Less stressed about things I don't really need to stress over
~Happier (I'll try very hard)
~Lose a bit of weight (eat sensibly now xmas is out the way)

I shall also be doing babysteps again...thank you Dontdream for the kick up the jacksy....I will definately shine my sink today.

Lewisfan What a lovely sentiment. Right back to you too

Well I had better start as I mean to go on...kitchen is a tip!

OOPS ..just the the mission. I understand. Ooh and do I need to join!!

Report
Sonnet · 01/01/2008 10:38

I would love to join...I am fairy organised and then I loose it all. I have little devil sitting on my shoulder saying I have to do it all now. I would love to be able to do small things each day and still feel in control....

BUT I work 3 days per week and once afterschool activites/homework/bath and bed etc out odf the way I an too knackered to do anything which means that all mt household chores are stuck into the two days I have off and I end up getting all resentful!!

Anyone else woh and do fly???

Ludaloo - those resolutions could have been made for me - mind if I "steal" them??

I have become somewhat lapsed with washing since the children broke up and over Xmas and as for the ironing........

Really need to get on top of that today:

Right:

Sort laundry into loads
Do laundry
Iron for an hour this am

Ooooh hello to you all and welcome

andfranksentthis...you don't need to subscribe to the FLY site....but I did, it helped me. Lots of us just use this thread as motivation though..

We have a new mission daily, and have a different zone of the house to work in each week.
We have started baby steps again today, so its a good place for new commers to start at

Happy FLYing

sonnet don't mind at all xx

Oooh. Lots of new FLYbabies Welcome.

If you want to start gradually (the best way for a long term resultime) check out the babysteps and shine your sink.

If it is already done, thank your dp and do it again before bed. It is nice to wake up to a clean sink.

If you join the official FLY lady wbsite you will be bombarded with emails telling you what to do.Some people find i helps, but lots of us have usubscribed and just use these threads.

Sonnet there are other wohms who are also FLYers. I'm sure they will check in later. If you work part time it is relatively easy to make your routines fit round working.

Morning routine done and second load of washig is in the machine.

(baby steps are brilliant to help you find a routine BTW....some of us have already got routines established...FGS and don'tdream both have good ones and post them up regularly...so keep a look out, I'm sure they won't mind if you "borrow" theirs )

Morning everyone.

Welcome to all new people and welcome to returning Flybabies.

Anyone who is not sure what is all about should look here

Start off with babysteps. Eventually she will help you build a control journal which will help with your housework.

The idea is taking small steps to build a routine so that your house (slowly) becomes decluttered enough that you can then maintain it. You DO NOT blitz all the time and burn yourself out.

This thread is full of happy (most of the time), tired and overworked people and we all try and help each other through the humdrum that is housework. It becomes much easier when you know other people are in the same boat.

And you can do it if you are working. It just takes a bit more planning. I hope (gulp) as I start part-time work next week (double gulp).

Sermon over......

Happy New Year

Don'tDreamItBeit (Great name btw - it sums up my attitude (so far ) this year!! Seriously though, want to actually stick to some realistic changes this year.

Fell off Flylady wagon twice in 2007 so really delighted to see new thread starting today. Really want to make it work this year - to declutter - to de-stress - and to make more time to do enjoyable things.

Also want to lose a bit of weight, get more sleep, and become less shouty and to make time to do something creative.

Sonnet - I work three days a week (only 6 hours a day though) and Flylady is perfect for that as it encourages you to capitalise on 15 mins here and 15 mins there. Got to get back in to little and often regime myself. Tis the only way. Good luck!

Happy New Year everyone and power to your elbows!

I have abandoned the kitchen for the moment....waaaay to messy in there! (not a very good start I know!) DD1 had an Ice Cream Maker for xmas....DH did it with her yesterday....(need I say more!)

D/W is currently full, sideboards are rammed full with biscuit boxes, cereal bowls, tins of choccies and christmas cake...arrrghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Christmas always seems to bring so much crap with it doesn't it!!!!!!!

The living room is ok though....may go and sit in there for a while

Thanks, DontDream for linking to my post - very kind of you

So, who did start with babysteps?? It just seems so pointless living in a hell-hole and ONLY cleaning my sink today?! (my kitchen is a mess, the living room is a mess etc etc...)

Should I ignore the babysteps and dive right in or ignore my head and do babysteps?

Argh, so much confusion!
