FLYing - baby steps - the weekend

CindersNeedsHelp · 28/09/2007 18:55

This is the baby steps weekend FLY thread.

We have now completed 5 days of baby steps. Congratulations to all those who currently have a shiny sink still!

You will be glad to hear that FLYBabies need only follow their daily routine at weekend. So as I read it, as experienced FLYBabies don't do missions, zones, decluttering at the weekend, we don?t have to take new steps.

All we have to do is follow the routine we have currently built up, which is:

Get dressed
Shine your sink
Read FLYLady reminders (Saturday's reminders here and Sunday's reminders here)
Read personal reminders (written or electronic)

And we will continue with day 6 on Monday

ooh now, I'd have said, given that there's 31 days in most months...and there's 31 babysteps.....we'd carry on throughout the weekend.

What about February, or the 30 day months? But if people want to do baby steps on the weekend, then that?s ok with me. What?s the general feeling here?

I have my inlaws up this weekend so I won't be able to do any new steps, but if everyone else wants to continue, I can catch up next week.

I?d need to catch up too ? the wedding! But happy to.

Lol, I did say most months.

I don't care either way really, lol, just thinking the babysteps are soo little, it's not difficult over the weekend, and easy to catch up if you miss.

Have a lovely weekend, both of you.

I don't have a strong view either, I'll go with popular opinion (cop out!)

I like the idea of waiting till Monday for day6...we are taking babysteps after......and if you can't slop around in your pjs on a wet miserable saturday morning, when can you?

saying that though, the dcs are dressed, my sink is bootifully shiny thanks to the bottle of shiny sinks i bought in Sainsbury's yesterday, and the dishwasher and washing machine are on.

I'm becoming a tad obsessive about my sink though......I shouted at DS earlier for wiping it with a wet sponge and leaving streaky wet marks just after I'd finished shining it . He was only trying to help, bless him.

Lol, I have to get up and dressed anyway as the lads have footie and karate each weekend.

It's soooo anti-social.

Hi, is it too late to join this thread? I have been FLYing on and off for years but since having ds 13mo more off than on ... now am 5 1/2 weeks pg, feel sick and knackered, and house is a TIP!! I need to get on top of it - really want to feel home is my 'nest' atm - and sorry if TMI but with over-sensitive pg nose I can smell it's not clean and it's really bothering me!! Not to mention that if all goes well with pg we will need to sell and move and I can't see any viewings going well with house in this state ... So can I join please? Think babysteps and support would really help! Will go and shine sink and wait hopefully ...

hi systemsaddict

all we have done so far is shine our sinks, dress to shoes, read reminders and write personal reminders. Days 1 to 5:

Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Day 5

We are carrying on with sink shining etc and reminders over the weeked, then starting with day 6 on Monday.

have fun!

Thanks Daisy! OK am in - sink is beautifully shiny and dp has been instructed in the importance of keeping it that way; shoes are tied on feet (though sadly I discovered that means my feet now stick to the kitchen floor ); then had to have a lie down, wasn't kidding about feeling knackered - will look at reminders this afternoon, once ds has finished eating lunch - no, sorry, throwing his sandwiches on the floor... hey, no wonder I'm sticking to it...

ROFL at sticking to the floor

Good - glad we've decided not to do any more over the weekend. I already have ten shirts to iron which is more than enough.

I've gone against the grain - I've had to start dealing with hot spots.

DaisyABandyBoobToo · 29/09/2007 15:26

as a fly baby i know not what these hot spots are you talk of

i'm just getting with the program for now.

if there are any hotspots to be dealt with, DH can do them when I'm not looking

Just caught up with this thread today... I haven't a clue where today has gone, I've not even had to cuddle DD she found her thumb today and it's kept her entertained for hours, but I've accomplished nothing.

Anyhow, glad we're not doing day 6 until Monday because I read about hot spots and then completely failed to do anything about them, I have several. But I was dressed this morning and my sink is still shiney.

Tomorrow I might try to sort out hotspots as my House Elf (my Mum) is coming to visit so the house will be gleaming by the end of the day anyway... and no, none of you can borrow her.. she's Mine!

bilblio - just looked at your profile (I'm not singling you out, I look at everyones!) - did you name your DD Bryher after the island?

I am off the wagon.

But I have inlaws staying and they babysat DS for us this afternoon, then we cooked them a meal, and it was impossible to keep sink shiny or anything.

shoes stayed on though...

Never mind i will be back on the wagon once they've gone.
Bit of a dramatic day, FIL fell down our stairs, he's fine but had to go to A&E to get checked out, then my dog got bitten by the dog next door

I need some sleep!

Much better now. PIL have gone, dog was sorry for himself last night but is right as rain. House is a tip but I am now off to shine my sink!

i have managed to keep my sink shiny, but have been lax with the dressing as it is the weekend. DH rather bemused at my possessiveness re the sink. If he uses it, I loiter with intent and scold him if he doesn't wipe it. He laughed at me for keeping the sink spotless but the rest of the kitchen being a bombsite.

I got quite cross with him viz would he rather the house was a tip as well as the sink being filthy and full of washing up then gave him a lecture on the ethos behind fly lady and that it was baby steps and all about building on more good habits everyday etc etc.

I also told him that it helps with my PND as it gives me a focus rather than sitting staring at the walls all day.

So, instead of thinking I'm a little barmy, he now thinks I'm certifiable

But he is now shining the sink after he uses it

Sink and rest of kitchen are shiny again, hoorah!

Shoes are off though....

I have re-joined FLYlady after about a 5 year re-lapse! I have shone my sink but not much else

I know the way it works though. I feel a little more in control already. When I opened a cupboard for a hairbrush just now and got drowned in the usual avalanche of random objects, I felt a sense of calm that one day soon, FLYlady (or one of them) will tell me to sort a cupboard.. and so I will My house is a nightmare.. but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Thank you for your threaad which inspired me to go back to FLYing.
