sudocreme on the carpet

How do I get out a large patch of sudocreme, ds was smearing it all over the place this morning and there is quite a lot in the carpet. I have used washing up liquid and water as suggested by another thread but this does not seem to have worked. Any suggestions?

I don't know how effective it will be since I've only done this on freshly smeared Sudocreme, but something that does work is to scrape up what you can of the Sudocreme with a knife, then sprinkle talcum powder all over what's left. Leave it on for as long as you can for the talc to absorb the grease - at least a couple of hours, overnight if you can - then hoover it up. It should remove most of the gunk, and what's left can be shifted with washing up liquid and elbow grease.

You might not find it very effective if you've already used water and washing up liquid, but it can't hurt to try.
