How often do you iron?

Do you do it all as it comes out of the dryer/off the line or do you iron as you need it?

Where do you store stuff waiting to be ironed?

What do you not iron?

Do you leave your board out somewhere?

How many are in your family?

I iron about once a week.

Iron in one go for 2/3 hours in an evening in front of the telly (apart from duvet covers - I iron them as needed). I don't like having the iron out in the day when the dcs are running around.

Clean stuff sits in 2 washing baskets in the kitchen porch.

Don't iron tea towels/towels/nightwear/underwear (my mum does!)

Board hides in cupboard under stairs.

4 in family.

ironing is definately one of those horrid jobs that i confess i leave until the pile is as tall as my toddler, or none of us have anything left to wear. my ironing board is stored in a cupboard, if it was out all the time would have to take notice of the big pile of ironing waiting to be done.

Every sunday evening. Stop for an hour to eat oysters then finish it off. Do it in front of tv/dvd.

Take everything out of dryer/off line and fold and put away as necessary. Put stuff to be ironed to one side.

In a wicker basket in a cupboard in laundry room

Board folded next to washing machine in laundry room; comes out on sunday evenings.

I iron for younger kids, dh and I and table linen. Big kids iron (or not) for themselves.

I am in constant awe of the people I hear of that have actual routines for stuff. I am a total dunce routine-wise and really need to sort it

i iron once a week at the most

its piled on top of a chest of drawers on the landing til the pile gets so big it falls over

i iron as little as possible, only posh things and things that are really crumpled

board lives under the stairs

there are 4 of us, i am a sahm/wahm, and dh in a portrait painter so neither of us work in an office enviroment, i would have to iron more if we needed clothes smartish for work

How often do you iron? When the basket is full-ish. DH used to do it all on a Sunday pm (taking all pm to do it) but that has stopped since we moved house 8 mths ago. I'm currently trying to do small amounts 2-3 times a week to keep it under control.

Do you do it all as it comes out of the dryer/off the line or do you iron as you need it? I hate ironing as I need it - extra pressure when I'm in a rush. If its not ironed, I don't consider it as a possible outfit

Where do you store stuff waiting to be ironed? Spare room - its got a nice solid door so I can't see the basket.

What do you not iron? Anything I think will look OK without it. I'm drastically cutting down on what gets ironed. DDs shorts/trousers, teatowels and some tops now get folded carefully when they are dry. Socks/undies never came into consideration (even though my mum does).

Do you leave your board out somewhere? Nope, we have a nice tall cupboard to put it in.

How many are in your family? Me, DH, DD (age 3)

I would love a domestic routine....I coo and aww over Anthea's house and at same time, feel proud I don't have a slattern house like the people she helps - I even go as far as to call DH into living room and say looook!!!! Our house is never that bad, followed by

But.....its still nowhere near perfect and DH keeps going to work in crumpled shirts...

about once a week, when all the dc are out. Will watch TV whilst doing it. Takes about 1-1.5 hours, I've got a steam generator iron and it's so much faster.

Store it in a laundry basket

Don't iron anything that's not clothes or bedding (don't iron our superking-sized bedding either). Also don't iron school jumpers, pyjamas etc.

Don't leave it out

DH does pretty much all of out ironing. I rarely iron these days.

He irons once a week generally - normally on a Saturday or Sunday whilst watching TV.

I wash all week round and the things for ironing go in the ironing basket ready for him.

We keep the ironing basket in the utility room downstairs.

The ironing board is folded up, behind the door, in the utility room.

What do we not iron? bedding, towels, underwear, PJs,

There are 3 of us: me, Dh and 5yo DD.
