We recently moved into a private rented house 1 month ago and last week a letter came which had no stamp on so I assume hand posted from bailiffs saying we owe so much for gas and they will be back, there was no number on the letter to call so inrang my gas company and said heyyyy what is going on!! They told
Me it was all a mistake and this debt is from before the date I moved in and these people won't be back! Well what do you know I'm on the school run and my partner says a letter randomly came through the door! It states exactly the same as the last letter but he said they didn't even knock....... once again there is no number to ring so what do I do? I'm heavily pregnant and this is really annoying me

See if the previous tenant left a forwarding address with your landlord. Otherwise you can google the company name (if you know the letter is from bailiffs I assume there is a firm name or similar on there?), or just wait and see if they knock/visit again then tell them they've got the wrong tenants and can bugger off.

I have googled their name and found their site. I have spent an hour on the phone to the gas company trying to sort it as it says they were sent by The gas company but the gas company have said they didn't and even if they did the letter is addressed to the occupiers so basically nobody had to pay anything as it's not in anyone's name and apprently we should ignore them..... she was not the most helpful in the end really!

I don't get it, you didn't find the bailiffs company name? I had this when a housemate moved out. Just call them, not the gas company, and say the people don't live there anymore, or email them

Yes the company name is on the top of the letter so I googled the name and found a website but also found a few people asking about them saying they had letters from them but didn't know why.
