Housekeeping

Forgive me, Mumsnet, for I must blaspheme . . . . (Zoflora related)

I am a marketer's dream. After listening to the MN Jury rave about Zoflora, I ordered a bottle of Fresh Linen from Amazon. I opened it in high anticipation of the life changing effect this wonder product would have on my mopped floors.

Oh my good God . . . . . the SMELL!!!!!!!!!!

Even DH, the mildest mannered and least bothered bloke about anything, wandered out of the lounge to find out what the feck was stinking the house out.

Housekeeping Board - I'll get my coat Grin

I like the lavender one but I agree that the Fresh Linen is disappointing to say the least.

I don't like the Fresh Linen one either but like Bouquet and twilight garden. Citrus and green apple ones aren't bad either

They sell them in the supermarkets and places like home bargains, pound world, etc so I tend to open them and have a sniff before buying them

Shall I give it a go?

I too ran straight to the shops to get some after reading everyone's rave reviews on here.
I got winter morning. Smells ok, festive.
But it doesn't feel as clean as bleach?

Bouquet is my favourite at the moment, got the big one from Wilko. Something about the linen one smells like aftershave and the hyacinth one is a bit forceful

dementedpixie · 01/11/2016 17:27

I oñly use it in my washing machine anyway. Although I don't use bleach much either

Is it diluted enough? I always dilute it more than they say. Then you just get a trace of fresh scent that's not overpowering. Fresh Linen is synthetic. But Green Valley is lovely and smells like real fresh linen - light apples and lily of the valley.

notagiraffe - you're spot on. It's a highly synthetic fragrance mixed (in DH's opinion) with the worst Gents' Bog he can recall . . . I think I need to get me to Wilko and check out the others!

They vary wildly in their niceness. Some are pure chemical, others are really quite nice. I like Winter morning, but not Springtime. However, even Springtime smells better than the bottom of my bin, so in it goes each week!

After reading the rave reviews in MN I bought two bottles of Zoflora and I was distinctly underwhelmed. I didn't like the smell and when I washed my dogs bedding with it instead of putting in fabric conditioner, it all came out crunchy and chemically smelling. It is horrible.

dementedpixie · 02/11/2016 08:22

I use it alongside fabric conditioner so you get the smell and the softness

I've tried a few and they've all been gopping, but it is a useful product. I keep meaning to contact the makers and request an unfragranced version.

I've just bought some- if it's diluted in water for washing down cupboards etc do I need rubber gloves or is it ok without?

I've currently got Fresh Linen, a cinnamon one I forget the name of and Twilight Garden.

Fresh linen goes in the washing machine to freshen the machine and clothes.
Cinnamon one I use in a spray to spritz duster and cloth as I dust and polish.
Twilight Garden is diluted in a bowl and used on a cloth ion sides and cupboards in the kitchen.

My house smells like, and forgive the old expression, the inside of an whores purse. Grin

I didn't like fresh linen either. And I have just bought a Christmas one which I don't like either. Twilight Garden is the only one I like.

Well I bought fresh linen off the back of that thread and I love it! I've been going mad with the stuff but it really came into its own yesterday when DS (15months) projectile vomited all over the carpet. Used Zoflora and it smells fresh as a daisy!
