White bed linen - yes or no?

We need new bed linen. I love the look of plain white but worried it will discolour really quickly. So straw poll - White bed linen - yes or no.

Yes! It somehow feels fresher to me.

Yes, it's lovely.

Yes. Over the years I've swapped to all white.
It doesn't matter if you swap an odd pillowcase in and looks smart.

Yes, goes with anything so you can even change the colour of your bedroom and keep the linen.

I just make sure it's washable at 60 degrees and give it the odd wash at 90 degrees every so often.

Yes, it's the best colour for bed linen. It always seems fresh.

Yes. Use vanish for whites with every wash to keep it white.

I'll be the only no I think, but white bed linen annoys me. It looks lovely at first but gets grubby really quickly in my experience (I do wear lots of cream for bad dry skin and fake tan and stuff though) and never looks as nice after the first few washes.

I choose to have whatever duvet cover is least offensive, then put a cream bedspread (it's stylish I promise) over the top which comes off at bedtime. Best of both worlds.

I think I'm convinced to go with white. I don't use fake tan and am pretty thorough about removing make up Grin

Congrats on moving over to the white side, OP!

Lol, I don't use fake tan precisely BECAUSE it would ruin my sheets (and towels - all towels in this house are white). I like to know where my dirt is, as Kim & Aggie would say.

All white here. DS isn't keen so had colors.

I love white bedding! Ours is years old & still looks new. I didn't put it in the kids bedrooms though for obvious reasons.

Wash at 60 degrees with a good powder detergent and line dry where possible, that'll keep it white

So where does the lovely white linen come from please ?

Report
minipie · 13/09/2016 16:30

White Company has nice designs but I've found it doesn't wear brilliantly

King of Cotton less choice of styles but good quality and lower prices

Would you believe...Asda Living! 300 thread count, Egyptian cotton

Is there another colour? Grin I only ever buy white. Usually White Company but love H&M Home linen too. Wash 60 degrees.

Yes, everything white cotton, sometimes a bit of accent colour, as high a thread count as you can get. Wash at 60 with a bit of biotex in the pre wash for random tea stains. I've got some sets now that are 12 years old, still white and now really soft.
Best value and quality at the price is the Northern Nights brand on QVC. They do high thread count, plain colours and 6 piece sets, so very competitive. You can send it back up to 30 days if you don't like it, even after washing!

Yes.

Always white. Only the kids bedding is colourful in this house. The sun bleaches it too so of you line dry it will be nice and bright when it comes in.

No worrying about keeping sets together.

We sometimes in the winter add a flat sheet between us and the duvet so I usually make that a colourful one and then one of our pillows each a matching g course.

I think white is too stark (and boring) I like colours.
