How to clean stainless steel cooker hood?

Hi,

I'm just after some hints/tips on how to clean my stainless steel cooker hood. I noticed the other day just how filthy it is but so far everything I've used to clean it just leaves it all streaky so that it still looks dirty.

Any product suggestions (the more natural the better) would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure we were told to use baby oil a long time ago. Clean any food etc off, then rub with baby oil.

Hi after you have cleaned it, get a soft cloth with no fibres and a bottle of baby oil.
Put a small amount of baby oil on the cloth and wipe over the steel, brings it up a treat
Makes it shiny and smear free

Sugar soap spray to get tough grease off without scrubbing (seriously it's amazing) and then a light spray of WD40 and wipe down with dry kitchen paper. Et voila! No smears or finger marks, and new grease will find it harder to stick.

You're probably not working with the grain of your stainless steel. It's usually horizontal.
Hot soapy (washing up liquid) water on a kitchen sponge to get rid of grease, then hot clean water dried off along the grain with paper towels.

This job was given to the most recent staff member in the McDonalds I used to work in, because it's tedious and painstaking. It only takes a sticky fingerprint to have to do it all over again...

Brew for you, OP.

Hot soapy water then buff it up with baby oil works a treat Smile

Have working in commercial kitchen with miles of fucking stainless steel worktops/cabinets/doors and this is what was always used.

I'm using olive oil (put a few drops on cotton cloth) to let stainless steel shine again
