Metal mop buckets - do they go rusty?

Sorry, got several questions today as I've been saving them up for a while.

Thinking of getting an old fashioned metal mop bucket as the squeezing mesh or whatever it's called is unlikely to break compared with the plastic ones.

But do the buckets go rusty if you are not 100% scrupulous about drying them after use, never ever leaving them on a damp floor etc? Is it bad to store water in them for more than a short time?

Need to be realistic here as I'm not the sort of person to be totally perfect about that, once messed up a new expensive Le Creuset iron griddle when it got got some rust on it while I thought I was being careful with it.
