Fledglings flutter vaguely into August - summer mode continues

Ok, so stealing Einstein's OP from last month, summer mode hereby continues.

This means:

  1. You are still welcome to join and post
  2. If you want there to be links and no one has posted them, feel free to post them.
  3. As technical thread leader I shall be hanging out in the naughty corner bar when I am around, and there'll be other people in and out too, I'm sure.
  4. We'll still answer questions for anyone wanting information on the fly lady system and support each other. It's just a little more relaxed.

And with that, bring on August and yet more crazy pants school holiday stuff...

Thanks for linking from the last thread, Cotswold - had a complete fail on how to do that from my phone, and then a massive distraction as the kitten knocked a big vase of flowers everywhere!

Has had antibiotic jab, anti inflammatory jab and now struggling negotiate the house in a "lampshade"Sad

One of our cats did the same last week Still but it was the back of the neck so she couldn't have a cone. A course of antibiotics plus the two jabs seems to have done the trick though.

I don't think I posted in July at all, but summer mode I think I can cope with.

Today is dds birthday so the last two days have been a blur of celebrations. Needless to say the house is looking a state as a consequence. I am feeling full of cold so have left the last of the tidying and headed up for an early night. Fingers crossed posting on hear will help me get organised again Hmm (shallow laugh)

Good morning busy bees, I am hoping that DD at least makes it out of her nightclothes today as we need to shop for ALL THE FOOD. Heavy rain here is making me dread a planned trip to the fairground this afternoon, although I doubt DD can be talked away from it.

Today - more tidying, putting away stuff and laundry. General cleaning and freshening of the house. Need to send a few emails/pay a bill so will try to motivate myself into doing that and not just checking the zoo ticket thread

See you at lunchtime!

Flowers Flowers

[Bit of a (very minor in the scheme of things) disaster. Had to return from holiday virtually after starting out for pet related reasons [one of those things]. Turns out we were mahoosively over-ambitious in terms of what furry one could cope with. Rearranging holiday later on and won't be on here much as loads of stuff happening before we depart again!]

Hope everyone is ok though! [Hope your dh is OK too Blue]

Salut to Cotswold, Celeste, Stillliving [strokes furry in naughty corner], Mercury, Whoknows , FoolandFitz, Cag and everyone else I have missed!

Back towards end of month in prep for setting up Sept thread with links again!

In the meantime hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer if we are to have any more sunshine and rain does not persist!

Not much going on here - I am in a lot of pain but tomorrow, finally, is the hospital appt with a consultant.

Did manage to put some clothes away and set up some appts eg dental, hair etc for DS.

Today has been quite productive. It is the positive influence of being back on this thread (I know it won't last long!)

I took the dc school uniform shopping and we bought everything we needed except shoes and bags.

I tidied our bedroom which had been used to hide all the mess over the weekend while we celebrated dd's birthday.

I also meal planned and did a food shop.

Tomorrow I'm less confident of getting anything done as I have my niece and nephew. As long as the weather is ok we will be heading off to the local forest for some fresh air and to run off their energy.

I hope your holiday is more successful next time SC and that your appt has a positive outcome FoolandFitz

Morning all,

I didn't manage to log on here yesterday. ds was at nursury so i managed to deep clean and mop the kitchen aswell as the usual daily bits. Today me and ds are going to the cinema and my cousin and her twin girls. This will be ds first cinema visit. I'm hoping he manages to sit down for the duration and not get bored!

Hi everyone :)

Sorry about the poorly people/pets, hope all recover soon and get appropriate treatment needed. Thanks

Good luck Celeste what film are you seeing? DD has been very lucky lately, she's been taken to see Finding Dory AND the Secret Life of Pets Envy. She was 5.6 when she first went to the cinema, DS was about 3.6 I believe.

During our stay at mum's we went to the Globe for a brilliant children's show of Midsummer (we've been studying it) - really inspiring and VERY funny. DD asked to do Macbeth next! DH had to stay here but he did loads of laundry. Just putting it all away today, need to get laundry stuff before we can do the stuff we brought back from mum's though.

Place is a bit of a state since we got home (sorry DH!) - suitcases etc. Need to dig out the marble run as my friend is buying the lot.

DH is off today but we have friends visiting, he's off tomorrow too so hopefully we can get stuff done.

Have a great day folks!

Caglio we are going to see BFG. ds is only 3.5 so i'm totally not expecting to sit through the whole film and have to take him outside for a walk at some point. His concentration isn't all there for a long film bless him but i want to start getting him used to cinemas.

Ta das

put the bins out
fed ds
washed dishes
wiped kitchen worktop
made beds
toilet duck'd both loo's
went to the park with ds
brought bins back in
wiped hand prints off lounge window and tv

Good morning all.

Yes, hope ailing pets and people recover soon!

Pouring with rain here which is giving me a chance to tidy (boo-hoo) and dd a chance to study (hurray!). I'm keeping up with the usual routines so that house doesn't descend in to total chaos but too late for boudoir and home office. Goading dd to revise while she has the opportunity and we are not travelling (she has two remedial exams at end of holiday but doesn't um, seem to have any particular sense of um, urgency about it). By the way, I tried, reminding cheerily, reminding a bit more sternly, bribing, turning off Wifi before I reached goading mode... . [sigh]

Other than that, I am seeking refuge in the naughty corner because word seems to have got around that we are here (when we should be away) and there are murmurings of two families who are passing through, possibly coming to stay. [Puts head in hands and rocks silently. I don't know why I feel so inhospitable and despondent about this because both families are lovely people whom I would normally love to see but somehow I can't seem to gather the emotional/practical energy for visits atm.)

Sorry ¨FoolandFitz hadn't realised you were feeling so grim. Flowers I hope the hosp appt goes well and that you get some support/answers.

Cag¨ohhhh the pain of having to part with a marble run - I've been through it - and it was hard I tell you - I lurved that toy!! Don't miss assembling and disassembling it though. Enjoy your day with friends!

Mercury hats off for being so on top of uniform buying this year. (I'm just praying that dd isn't growing too much this summer.) Also, need to follow your good example as have exactly the same prob with boudoir which was used as a dumping ground during dd's birthday sleepover, and need to sort it/put away loads of crapola!

Celeste enjoy the cinema trip and hope dc all glued to their seats Smile!

Waves to Blue and everyone else!

Oh SC my dear PLEASE stop saying things like you are 'inhospitable' no you bloody well are not! The amount of pressure all these people keep putting on you, just assuming they can come and stay, ugh it drives me mad on your behalf. It seems a lot of people are just totally taking advantage of your lovely nature :( there is nothing inhospitable about saying actually no, we are supposed to be away right now and we are sorting things out to go back again and we have no time or space for unwanted guests!

Ooooh Celeste I am jealous, I really want to see the BFG! Hope you all enjoy it! I can't take my DCs as they both find the original animated one really scary. :(

Forgot to say thank you Blue for the new thread and thank you Einstein for the previous one.

Nice day today, my friend picked up the marble run (I'm not toooo sad about it, as the DCs are in fact getting a lovely grown up wooden one from Santa this year) and I went out for a bit for lunch with some other friends. DH picked up the DCs' bikes today (needed repair, hence clearing cupboard so they can be stored properly) so they've had a lot of time out on them, and we tried a new board game.

Must order grocery delivery for tomorrow including laundry stuff.
