Tile floor + steam mop = sticky floor

What am I doing wrong?

Considering going back to an old school mop and bucket

Are you just using water with the steam mop?

Yeah, need something to cut through the grease, I use Ecover lemon all purpose cleaner.

Steam mop instructions say not to use cleaning products

I've tried it with and without -same problem either way

Everything you clean is just going to stick on the pad of your steam mop and then spread it over the floor.
Am not judging, I use one and am asking myself why as I think I am just spreading wet mess over my floor whilst kidding myself that I am cleaning it.

I have one of these, I put warm water and Ecover all purpose lemon cleaner in it, can't remember paying that much for it though, knowing me I'd have got it on special offer.

Other than with a scrubbing brush and really rinse well, not sure what else. Or white vinegar/rinse maybe.

I wonder if the steam mop is unsuitable for use on your flooring and the steam is causing the stickiness by damaging the surface of the floor.
