Sticky patches

Not as dodgy as it sounds, I promise!! But how can I remove sticky patches from my bedding? My husband is trying very hard to give up smoking and is currently on a course of nicorette patches. Occasionally he neglects to take them off before bed, and they come off in the night and attach themselves to the bed sheets. After washing I'm still left with disgusting black sticky patches. How can I remove them? Bedding is cotton mostly.

I am quite fond of him so would rather not have to LTB, however I'm extremely fond of my bed, so appreciate this may be my only option here

Sticky stuff remover from Lakeland can be used on fabric.
