what do you use your spare bedroom for?

If you have a spare room do you use it regularly. We have friends/family come and stay one every month or so, but apart from the odd weekend its just empty and unused. Id love it to be something more than a guest room, as it just feels a bit wasted day to day.what could we do with it to make it feel like a truly useful part of the house?

Mine is a study/ laundry room. I have my tumble dryer and an airer there.

DP thinks it's his study Grin. We use it for laundry and bulk storage mainly.

Mine used to be a craft room. It's now empty awaiting decorating as it will be DC2 s room from September.

I miss my craft room!

I dry washing in it. And the hamster live in it. People sleep in it about twice a year.

I use the wardrobe in my spare room for our night out clothes and jackets etc.

The room itself has a double bed, which is usually covetecoveredd in a massive pile of clothes waiting for me to iron Blush.
Then there is my two airers which always have clothes drying on them. The room annoys the life our of me because it just feels wasted.

We have three spare bedrooms, two of which are guest bedrooms ( we have people stay often) the other one is a home gym

Either my DH or I sleep in our guest room as we are such terrible sleepers we can't share a bed - it's almost a nuisance when we have visitors as we have to share our bedroom. Grin. It also has a bookcase with all my 'waiting to be read' books and a cupboard with abandoned craft projects that I may or may not get round to finishing one day.

One full time guest room and the other a study. Friends coming tomorrow so we look a bit like a dorm at the moment though!

We have a guest room and the other spare is a den for DD with toys, reading corner and a day bed for if friends come to stay

Our DC have always used it as a room for stuff they want to leave out undisturbed. So when they were younger it was a Lego/Games room. We have a family room but toys in there always got tidied away, whereas they could build massive Lego or Scalextric/train sets and leave them out in the spare room. Now they are teens they keep all their recording equipment and amps in there. We only having people staying for a few days every holiday, so this way it gets used every day. And the cat has pinched the bed as his favourite place to nap in the day time.

Junk.

There is actually a spare bed under the junk somewhere, people stay in there once a year on average.

I don't have a spare room - I have a sewing room that I let guests sleep in.

Ours has a day bed (pulls out to a double when we have guests) and a desk in. I use it for laundry and when DS still napped I would occasionally lie on the day bed and read a book as I find it quite a peaceful room. DH sometimes works in there on weekends or if working from home in the week.

Currently it's just for guests but once dc#2 comes along it'll also have laundry and DPs desk in there for when he works from home.

1 is a bedroom with a double bed, 1 has two singles for the grandchildren and 1 is an office/dumping ground. All the kids have left home now.

Ours gets used a couple of times a year by dh's parents. It's a wasted space. Dh is desperate for a study to escape to but feels he owes his parents a bedroom for when they come. It has a desk in the corner, but the room doesn't really work very well as it is currently set up. One day.....

Ours is my office. But I work from home a lot. There's also DDs' wardrobes because their rooms are tiny.

One is a spare room but I also use it as my dressing room with all my make up and clothes stored in there. The other spare room is another room for ds as he has a massive brio train set so he has a whole room for it so it can be permenently out.

I'm thinking about maybe turning it into a bit more of a playroom for the dc, or maybe putting a projector in there and making it into a family cinema room. Just anything to stop it being such a redundant space

We don't have a spare room.
Me and my GF in one, our daughter in the second and the third is the ferrets bedroom.

Yes, my ferret has her own bedroom. And? 😝
