Bit of background... Oh works 50 hour weeks of unsociable hours, i work 20-40 sociable and also study part time with ou. We have 15 month old dd and 8 year old dsd.

We are really struggling to get a routine for housework and are even struggling to keep on top of washing.

Any tips for a routine?

With those commitments, if you keep on top of the laundry -ironing an unnecessary luxury, feed your family and you don't feel you'll gain a disease from the kitchen or bathroom, I'd say you're doing brilliantly.

Could one of you batch cook some meals/soups for lunches?

Then one load of laundry on per day.

Tidy up or clean a bit of the kitchen when you are making a cup of tea.

Always leave the bathroom the way you would like to find it.

Minimise your stuff, if you have less its easier to tidy up.

With laundry it can take less than five minutes to fold it up, another five to put it away, just do it.

Spending five or so minutes here or there will give you more time.
