how waterproof are plastic outside units?

Hello!

I'm moving house in a couple of weeks (currently live in a one bed with DP and DS who is 3 months old)
We are moving in to a 2 bed rented house and the storage inside the new house isn't great with no under stair storage space and only a small airing cupboard.

I am considering purchasing a plastic outside storage unit as there is a good size garden with sheltered decking. I just wondered if anyone had experience with the outside plastic storage units and how waterproof they are (as do not want to risk damaging any item if they are not great).

Any feedback/advice greatly appreciated

We have two plastic outside storage units. Both are totally rain proof but things can get slightly damp so cardboard and electrical items can suffer a bit.
