I have just send second vacuum cleaner (vax and zanussi) back as total rubbish, didn't work the same after a few weeks. I have my eye on a good Miele now, or shall i go for a Dyson? Which Miele or Dyson do you love?

Miele every time. Blew my crappy dyson out of the water. I would never go back. We have a miele cat and dog btw.

Had our dyson DC1 since married in 1998. Has been through 'everything' - house renovations etc. Been repaired c/o dyson engineer few years back (standard fee/almost everything replaced inc motor) and still going strong. BUT recently brought a Dyson animal thing, build quality no where near as good as DC01 and don't see it lasting long term.

Not purchased Miele before but friend has had a washing machine for 25+ years.

I bought my third dyson 18 months ago and to be honest it is really crap compared to the older models so this week I have bought a miele and it is x100 better. The dyson felt flimsy and it just wasn't picking up. Really disappointed with it.

Miele. Has withstood all sorts (inc. my daughter hoovering her car and discovering her footwell was awash with water, I thought the sudden influx of water had killed it but no, once it tried out it carried on like new), cleans up beautifully after my dogs and doesn't commit suicide at every turn like useless, bloody Henry did.

My Dyson has been going for 17 years with just one small repair to the cord. I love that I don't have to remember to buy bags or filters! Mum has the Miele which is much more powerful but has to have bags and has been repaired twice in three years. IF its a choice between the two I would say Dyson. But, when my Dyson dies, I am going to get the cordless Airtech!!!!

I've had both. Miele is far superior IMHO. Love love love my Miele! They really suck.Having said that, I have the little cordless Dyson which is brilliant for small touch ups but not a substitute for my Miele.

we have had a dyson previously but went with a miele when it died, we find the miele far better than the dyson - only bad thing is they are heavy if you need to lift upstairs or anything.

We are a cleaning company and provide our teams with Miele vacs, not many within the cleaning industry will touch dysons, they are not rated highly within the cleaning industry. Dysons are prone to blockage and lose a lot of performance, they are also awkward to maneuver and have been know to cause shoulder injuries for cleaners using them all the time.

My Miele is 15 years old now, still going strong, never had any problems with it. Worth every penny. I think Dysons are overpriced and not a patch on Miele.

I don't think Dyson are as good as they used to be, and I killed a Miele cat & dog in less than 2 years by using the tools 'too much' so the locking bit in the bottom warped...

Me. It is the one that tried, and failed, to kill by hoovering up water.

Of the 2, Miele. Their cylinders are awesome. But if you want an upright, get a Sebo. The Sebo uprights are way more reliable.

My Miele is pants. Have recently got a cordless Bosch which is brilliant.

I hate my Miele - it keeps overheating and then the on/off switch doesn't work properly.

We've got a dyson cordless thing it was good for a year and now it's good at moving dust but doesn't like picking anything up. Dyson sent a free replacement bit which made no difference. I want a Miele but what I reallllly want is a robot Hoover a roomba?
